This story could go one of many ways. Andrew Hedrich, an 8-year-old from Illinois, has been doing resistance training since he was in diapers.
In a weight lifting competition recently held in Iowa, he broke the world record for his weight class. He weighs 54 pounds, but bench pressed a whopping 57.5 pounds.
“I lift a lot more than [other kids],” Hedrich said. “All the girls go, ooooh, ahhh, when they see my muscles. … It’s fun … I get to be the strongest kid in the world.”
Most people will look at this and shake their heads. His father is a power lifter also, having set a national record himself.
The best thing about this is that in the world of incessant video game playing lazy ass little s**theads being the majority of our youth, this kid is being encouraged to exercise – an anomoly nowadays.
The saddest thing about this is the possible fact that his father could be using his son for his own benefit.
Andrew appears in his dad’s strength training commercials.
“Business picked up after I put him in the first one,” Ken said, laughing. “People are like, I don’t remember you, but I know that kid.”
Yuk. It will be interesting to keep an eye on this one. Because the level of fitness training throughout his life is relatively unprecedented, it is impossible for science to predict how this kid’s body will turn out.
What do you think?
