World Cup Weekend Roundup: Germany Crushes Argentina, Spain Slips By Uruguay, Suarez Suspended For Handball
The World Cup has failed to disappoint. This weekend was no different. It has been rife with great plays, trash talk, passionate fans, smoking hot fans and controversy. A little bit for everyone, no?
Let’s dive right in shall we?
Germany Crushes Argentina, 4-0
From all accounts, this game looked to be a very competitive one. Competitive it was not.
Germany took advantage of Argentina’s defense over and over again. Maradona did not make the necessary adjustments, and even if he did, it’s not certain it would have mattered.
The final goal was a perfect example of the abuse Argentina was taking all game. Simply put, Germany owned them all game.
Unfortunately, that means Argentina girl Dorismar [NSFW] has to go home, too.
Spain Slips By Paraguay, 1-0
Spain didn’t play beautifully, but they did just enough to win.
This marks the first time Spain has ever made it to the World Cup Final Four.
It comes as no surprise really, seeing as how they and Brazil were the odds-on favorites to win the World Cup.
They’re going to have to play better to beat an on-fire Germany team.
In other bad news, Paraguay’s loss means Paraguay girl, Larissa Riquelme, will have to go home as well.
Uruguay’s Luis Suarez Suspended One Game For Handball
I hate to say it, but his suspension is weak. Luis Suarez, now considered a national hero in Uruguay, smacked the ball out of the goal to prevent Ghana from winning the match.
It’s cheating and the sport should have no place for it. There is no difference between this play and goaltending in basketball, except basketball rewards the shooter with the basket.
Ghana should have been given the goal. Ghana should have advanced.
Suarez received a red card for his unsportsmanlike move, meaning he would have already been suspended the next game.
This one-game suspension basically changes nothing as he would have already been out of the game anyway because of his red card.
These handballs can not be tolerated. His punishment is too lenient. A one-game suspension is not enough deterrent to prevent this from happening in the future.
Either kick him out of the World Cup forever, and/or fine the team an ungodly amount of money. Both of those would serve as a worthy deterrent.
