WFNY Reporting That Tom Izzo Is For Sure Going To The Cavs

In the first big move of the NBA off-season (I know the Finals are going on, but who cares except Lakers and Celtics fans?) it is being reported by Cleveland sports website Waiting For Next Year that Tom Izzo has told multiple Michigan State players that he will be taking the job as head coach of the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Apparently after getting some backlash, WFNY felt the need to come out and say it again.

ESPN is currently reporting he has informed his players that he is talking with Dan Gilbert about the job.

Izzo is reported to make up to $6 million a year with the Cavs which is double what he is currently making with Michigan State.

The talk was he would wait to see if Lebron was going to re-sign with the Cavs, but I have a feeling it is the other way around.

I know Danny Ferry tried to do as much as possible to get talent around him, but he never brought in a big name coach.

There is no doubt in anyone’s mind Tom Izzo knows his s**t when it comes to basketball, but can he translate it to the NBA? We all remember what happened when Rick Pitino came to Boston.

This could be a completely different story though, seeing as Izzo might have one of the best players to ever play the game on his squad.

Until pen hits paper, nothing is 100%, but we are eagerly anticipating further developments in the soap opera that is the Cleveland Cavs’ 2010 off-season.
