Vanderbilt Pitcher Corey Williams Has Knee Cap Shattered, Still Finishes Play [Video]

Vanderbilt Pitcher Corey Williams Has Knee Cap Shattered, Still Finishes Play [Video]Being a pitcher can be the most enjoyable position in baseball.  After all, you get to touch the ball every play, you have a lot of control over how well your team does, you’re often the center of attention, etc.

The Bad? You’re standing 60 feet 6 inches away from a guy who has the ability to blast a line drive right back at you.

This couldn’t be better illustrated than with the recent injury to Vanderbilt reliever Corey Williams.  Trailing 7-1 in the bottom of the 7th, Williams’s 2-2 fastball was hit right back at him.  The ball nailed him right in the knee cap, completely breaking it.  (FUCK!)

Unbelievably, he had the wherewithal to flip the ball to the first baseman in time to get the runner.  That’s what you call keeping your head in the game.

Vanderbilt’s Corey Williams is much tougher than you are
