This year’s Winter Olympics in Vancouver was considered a success by a lot of people, including many of the athletes, Vancouver residents, and all of us sports blogs that cover almost everything BUT the athletic aspects of the games (Sometimes the things people do outside of the games are much more interesting).
But obviously just reporting on the games was not a good idea anyway, as it is being reported that NBC lost $225 million stemming from their coverage of the Vancouver Olympics! Repeat $225 MILLION!
On the other side of the tracks, we here at JOCKpost, and I am assuming many of the other sports blogs, did rather well in our “coverage” of the Winter Olympics. While we did post a couple articles about some of the events and updates on

Kiira Korpi
the medal counts, most of our stories were about things other than the athletic competition. You know, the things that people give a s**t about (Mostly boobs).
But this is what NBC failed to do. They did not want to talk about how hot Kiira Korpi or Claudia Toth are. They almost completely ignored the fact that Scotty Lago was asked to leave the Olympics for his “scandalous” pictures. And NOT ONCE did they mention that JOCKpost writer MC McMahon won a Platinum medal.
Losing $225 million would suck some serious balls. The fact that NBC ignored all of the things that us internet nerds like to talk about or look at was obviously not a good idea, and the proof is in the numbers. I know that the Olympics are supposed to be “family friendly”, but I have a feeling that the almighty dollar will overcome this obstacle as well.
