Terrelle Pryor Will Stay At Ohio State All Four Years, And With Good Reason

Terrelle Pryor Will Stay At Ohio State All Four Years, And With Good ReasonTerrelle Pryor, for the first time in his college career, is trying to say all the right things. As a Junior Preseason Heisman candidate, which is almost laughable on it’s own, Pryor has admitted that he hasn’t been the best teammate in the past, as well as saying he has been “humbled” from his past couple years experience.

In fact, he has been so humbled, that he feels he needs to tell the media that he will be at Ohio State all fours years – as if there were thoughts in anyone’s mind that it would be a good idea for him to leave early.

“I want to leave a legacy, that’s my goal,” Pryor said. “That’s why I’ll be here for four years. I can’t wait. I’m so happy.”

Pryor is entering his Junior season with the highest of expectations. The Buckeyes are ranked #2 in the Coaches Preseason Poll, and after coming off the best game of his career against Oregon in the Rose Bowl, Pryor has the chance to do exactly what his goals states – build a legacy. But he will have to start doing much better than he has his first two seasons, especially if people want to keep comparing him to Vince Young.

Vince Young’s Junior seasonwas rather remarkable. Not only did he have over 3,000 yards passing, but his 1050 yards rushing are the type of stats that Terrelle Pryor could only dream of. Then when you add his 38 total Terrelle Pryor Will Stay At Ohio State All Four Years, And With Good Reasontouchdowns, it makes you think there is no way a Big Ten offense could match those kinds of numbers.

As a sophomore, Pryor had 2094 yards passing, 779 yards rushing, and 25 total touchdowns, which believe it or not, are not very far off from what Young did as a Sophomore. In Young’s first season as a starter, he did have more rushing yards (1079), but his passing yards and total touchdowns are rather similar (1849, 26). But if Pryor wants to make the type of jump that Young did from his sophomore to Junior season, then he has a lot of work to do.

As far as staying for his Senior year, I don’t feel it should even be an option. Pryor is not even close to being ready to play in the NFL, mentally or physically. He can’t throw the ball nearly effective enough, and regardless of how humbled the QB has become, I have a feeling his wonderlic scores wouldn’t be much better than Young’s.

So hopefully for all the Buckeye fans out there, Pryor does take a page from Vince Young’s playbook and can put up the kind of stats that he did his Junior year. But for Pryor’s sake, I hope he does stay all four years unlike Young. Maybe then the talk of building a legacy wouldn’t seem quite so far off.

  4. ColdBuckeye says:

    jim = ass wipe

  5. jim says:

thats fine buckeye fans, get excited like you did last year and watch pryor blow it to a weak ass team like Purdue, good luck going undefeated

  6. Bryan says:

two things Jim your obviously a stupid douchebag with no knowledge of sports whatsoever. secondly to whoever wrote this article you need to remember the fact that Terrell came in as a freshman and started playing almost instantly upon arriving. Vince Young got red shirted and didn’t even play in a game until his junior season which with a red shirt is the same as a senior season. so people need to remember this and take in to consideration the fact that not until the season after this upcoming one will T.P. even have as much time to grow up learn the offense as Vince Young did at Texas. There is a HUGE difference between being thrown in the fire as a freshman and being able get redshirted and sitting back and learning for 3 years before ever starting a game.

  7. jim says:

thank you for making my point Bryan. everyone wants to get excited about him, he didn’t have the luxury that young had. hence why he is not going to live up to the hype this year, maybe next year. maybe.

  8. billy says:

I love that people refer to Pryor as “TP”. Exactly what he should be called, because he is s**tty just like toilet paper.

  9. BuckzzzOSU says:

Hey jimbo, billy bob, why don’t you both go back to f**king your cousins in whatever hick town you’re from…you obviously don’t know anything about Ohio State football.

  10. jim says:

and you do? enlighten us buckzzz with a Z because its cool that way. what has TP done so far to just assume he is ready to take this team all the way? unless he comes out the first game throwing bombs to his receivers, don’t get excited, it will be the same season all over again.

  11. Kyle says:

This is great news for buckeye fans. Even with no improvement this year he would be drafted in the first round because of his size and speed. Though, when he finds this out, he may not want to stay. It’d be great for him to show new QB Braxton Miller how to do it in 2011. Enough talk about a year from now the buckeyes Kick off in 4 days 2 hours!!!!!!!

  12. Nick says:

jimbo and billybob are just jealous because they dont even know who terrelle is and they worship their mother

  13. Rich says:

Terrelle, “people kills you, people kills me” blows. big deal he’s coming back to OSU. He won’t make it in the NFL, so it was really not much of a decision.

  14. mike says:

You can tell you f**k faces are either Michigan fans or you don’t know a great coach when you See 1. So sit back and watch our buckeye’s s**t all over your teams

  15. Troy says:

How bout them bucs now! You ought to know by now that Michigan kicked your ass for a full decade before Ohio State kicked theirs for a full decade. It’s Michigan’s turn again so have fun the next ten years. Maybe some of you so called fans will get off the band wagon you jumped on in 2002 and root for an SEC team since OSU gets the s**t kicked out of them time and time again.
