-The New York Giants are your Super Bowl champions after upending the Patriots 21-17 in Indianapolis.  All this after the Giants started the season a very mediocre 7-7.  Ahmad Bradshaw fell into the endzone with under a minute to play giving the G-men a four point lead.  With time left on the clock, Tom Brady had the chance to do something magical.  Brady ultimately fell short, as his hail mary pass bounced just out of the reach of tight end Rob Gronkowski.

-I know he’s going to get a pass because he’s Tom Brady and he’s been a premier quarterback for as long as we can remember and your girlfriend pictures him naked when she’s with you… but Tom Brady did not play a very good football game Sunday night.  In fact, there were stretches when he down right stunk.  Look past the stat sheet, book worm.  Watch the game.  In fact, replace the name “Tom Brady” with “Jake Delhomme”, “Colt McCoy”, or “Jay Cutler” and see what happens…

*Jake Delhomme got called for intentional grounding in the end zone on the FIRST PLAY of the Super Bowl!  

*Colt McCoy woefully under threw his tight end, resulting in a Chase Blackburn interception.

*Jay Cutler routinely missed open receivers on the final drive of the Super Bowl.

All of those things happened Sunday night, but because they happened to Tom Brady, people won’t remember it.  Mostly because people are sheep.  Baahhhh….

-For those quick to jump to Brady’s defense… digest this, Lamb Chop; Tom Brady was 0-5 when throwing the ball more than 20 yards.  An oddity?  Or a trend?  In Super Bowl XLII, Brady was 0-8 in passes over 20 yards.  Bahhhhh…. 

-On the other side of the ball, Eli was Eli.  He was consistent, he was accurate, and he was methodical.  He didn’t turn the ball over and kept the New England offense off the field, winning the time of possession battle 37 minutes to 22 minutes.  In the end, Eli looked like he’d been there before.  Probably because he has.  In his two Super Bowl appearances, Eli Manning has engineered not one, but two 4th quarter game winning drives.  Not bad for the goofy looking brother.  Err…goofier looking brother.

-To be honest, I didn’t watch the halftime show.  I assumed what those tweets confirmed… that Madonna is a washed up bag of prunes that I didn’t care about even when she was in her prime.  I watched the Puppy Bowl.  Here’s what you missed…

If you were talking to someone and missed the beginning of the play, it might have looked like Giants RB Ahmad Bradshaw was hot dogging. Seems logical: It’s not every day you see a running back sit down backwards into the end zone.

What we really saw was a mental meltdown. Bradshaw’s brainfart happened right before our very eyes — on what is possibly the world’s biggest stage.

It was only part of the awesome though. Let’s step back a little.

With just under 4 minutes left, Elisha was about to do what he does best. He calmly drove the offense downfield like we knew he would — milking just the right amount of clock. (whew, that was close).

The sideline shots of Bill Belichick confirmed it. He wore the look of a man who was two steps from death’s door. The worst part: he had to wallow in it, helplessly. At this notion, he took action.

He told the defense to let the Giants score. Let’s think about this. In order to make this call, Belichick had to be absolutely CERTAIN that the Giants kicker Lawrence Tynes would nail the layup. So much for what happened just one game ago.

What was he to do? HOPE that the kicker would miss? That’s not his style — and it CERTAINLY was not how he was going to go down. Not this time. You gotta love it.

At the same time, Tom Coughlin is playing a different game. The Giants needed to drain as much time as possible, while leaving enough time for just one play. Surely he told the team to take a dive before scoring a touchdown.

Enter Ahmad Bradshaw.

He has spent his entire life rushing for the end zone. It’s impossible to imagine how many touchdowns Bradshaw has scored in his life. When he sees the end zone, his natural tendency is to enter it. Makes sense.

He has also spent his entire life dreaming of this moment: scoring the game-winning touchdown in the Super Bowl. His dream was unfolding right before his eyes and the logical part of his brain was telling him to sit down at the 1. We all know what happened next.

After he scored there was a weird pause when everyone on the Giants’ sideline looked at each other like, “Damn, that’s sweet that we’re winning, but I think we just played right into Darth Belichick’s hands.”

At that time the Patriots probably felt like they had new life. Belichick looked a little more spry, but Tom Brady had little left in the tank. Surely they all believed that they had just one more miracle left.

Instead of doing actual research, I will pose the question to you: Does anyone remember any touchdown that was scored in a Super Bowl that the scoring team didn’t actually want to score?

I can’t.

With the Super Bowl being just over a week away, it’s time for all of the know-it-all fans to come out of the woodwork.  Everyone knows at least one person like this; Never really played sports, usually fat, obnoxious, someone who is always referenced as just an acquaintance rather than an actual friend.

Well if you are like me, and enjoy having the power of knowledge over these types of people, here are a few quirky, somewhat stupid, Super Bowl facts that you can shove in their face. Now, if you would rather just tell these people to shut the f**k up, that is your prerogative as well.

Fact 1: 80 percent of all Super Bowl tickets sold go to corporate sponsors of the NFL and of the Super Bowl.

Fact 2: The first four Super Bowls were not actually called “Super Bowl.” The first two went by the title of “AFL-NFL World Championship Game.” Impressive, sure, but not nearly as iconic as “Super Bowl,” a term not used until the third game, between the New York Jets and the Baltimore Colts. This was the first game between the champions of the AFL and NFL won by a team (the Jets) from the upstart AFL. Their victory was followed a year later by that of the AFL’s Kansas City Chiefs, a game which many feel cemented the eventual merger between the two leagues.

Fact 3: One out of every 12 people watching the game only does so to see the commercials.

Fact 4: If you wanted to buy a ticket for Super Bowl I, you could have gotten in for only six bucks. The cheapest tickets for recent Super Bowl games have cost hundreds of dollars or more.

Fact 5: The Super Bowl is not good for worker productivity. On the Monday following the Super Bowl, an average of six percent of the workforce calls in sick. Is everyone faking? Not likely. Read Fact 6 for reasons why people just might be telling the truth.

Fact 6: While it might be bad for productivity, the Super Bowl is good for one thing: the antacid business. Typically, antacid sales increase 20 percent the day after the game. Maybe all those people really are sick after all.

Fact 7:There have been hundreds of people throughout the years who have won Super Bowls. And of those players, quite a few have gone on to be coaches. But did you know that out of that group, only three (Mike Ditka, Tom Flores and Tony Dungy) have won the Super Bowl as both player and coach?

Fact 8: While there are certainly teams that have had their fair share of success in the Super Bowl (the San Francisco 49ers, Dallas Cowboys and Pittsburgh Steelers have all won the Super Bowl five times), those victories are typically spread out over a number of years. The UCLA Bruins won seven NCAA basketball titles in a row, and the Boston Celtics won eight consecutive NBA titles. Don’t expect the same type of dominance in the NFL. In fact, the longest winning “streak” in the Super Bowl is two games.

Fact 9: Since the 1998-1999 season, the losing Super Bowl team has gone on to have a winning record the next season only once. In fact, aside from the 2006-2007 Seattle Seahawks, teams that have lost the Super Bowl since 1998 have seen their average records go from a 13-3 to a lowly 5-11 the next year.

Fact 10: If you feel a little bloated the day after the Super Bowl, it’s understandable. In America, Super Bowl Sunday is second in food consumption behind only Thanksgiving Day. How much food is gobbled down? How about an estimated 14,500 tons of chips, 4,000 tons of popcorn and 8 million pounds of guacamole? Is it any wonder so many people call in sick the next day?

But like usual. I was left disappointed.

When I first saw the trailer and heard that wonderful little jig, I really thought that maybe, just maybe, a sequel would come out that would actually be worth watching.

Maybe it is just a Super Bowl commercial. But I’m guessing I wouldn’t be the only one that would stand in line to see a Ferris Bueller’s Day Off  sequel.

He is obviously the least confident person in the world, but in a weird way I feel bad for him. And if I wasn’t creeped out by anyone that posts anything on Craigslist, I would actually help this guy out.

Although, I wasn’t a quarterback or a linebacker, so I’m not sure I have the skills this guys is looking for.

But if you do, give him a call. I’m sure he is not in the least bit weird.

It was announced this morning that Madonna is slated to be the halftime performer for this upcoming Super Bowl.

Listen, Madonna is f**king old. She’s scary looking. Her songs suck. Young dudes don’t like Madonna. Old dudes don’t like Madonna.

Come to think of it, NO FUCKING DUDES LIKE MADONNA.

You know who likes Madonna? 40-year-old women who will only be watching the Super Bowl for the commercials.

This is bulls**t and it has to stop. Last year’s performers, the Black Eyed Peas at least were moderately popular and young. They still sucked balls.

The last time we got a halftime show that didn’t suck was Prince.

Back when it was announced that the Who was performing in 2010, we put together an article about why having geriatric acts is a bad idea.

We included a poll to find out who the people really want to see.

For the record, the people did not choose Madonna. That’s because Madonna wasn’t even one of the choices because we already know that NO ONE WANTS TO SEE HER.

The Super Bowl is supposed to be at a place where teams can play in a comfortable environment and fans can get as crazy as they want.

Fortunately for the players, Cowboys Stadium has a retractable roof. They will be fine. And as far as the fans…well they will just figure out a new way to show off their team spirit, weather be damned.

Just like these Packers girls here. Nothing will stop them from making sure people look at their boobs.

The Steelers are an arch enemy of mine, and quite frankly, Brett Favre has completely ruined everything Packers related.

But that’s ok…the guys over at Holy Taco have put together a flow chart to help determine what team you should root for.

But personally, I don’t give a f**k what this thing says, I will not be rooting  for the Steelers. I will be rooting for a Fergie wardrobe malfunction and maybe a decent Go Daddy commercial.

You know these assholes piss themselves while on the field? Not all of them, but if two of them are able to admit it out of only a random few interviewed, I’m guessing it would be safe to say that a majority of these dirt-bags drown themselves with in-game urine.

Didn’t these guys parents teach them to pee before they left the house?

Of all our years watching football, nothing is more guaranteed than unadulterated putridity in the bathrooms at Cowboys Stadium on Sunday night.

But some things are certain.  Ben Roethlisberger will escape sacks and Mike McCarthy will made stupid decisions.  The cameras will cut to Jerry Jones at least 47 times and the media will continue to bitch about how cold it is in Dallas.

TEN THINGS YOU’LL SEE AT SUPER BOWL XLV

1.) The first half will belong to Rashard Mendenhall, but the second half is all Big Ben.

Expect Pittsburgh to feed their running back early, wearing down the Packer defense. Mendenhall has been phenomenal this year, rushing for over 1200 yards and 13 touchdowns.

Averaging close to 4 yards per carry, Mendenhall will draw in the Packers defense, and open up the airways for Big Ben to do what he does best… make big plays late in the game.

2.) Staying on the running back wagon, Packers rookie back James Starks will wilt on the big stage. The moment will be too big for the kid from University at Buffalo, and the suffocating Steelers defense will shut him down.

3.) Greg Jennings will have himself a ballgame. The stadium in Dallas will be a fast track, and nobody on the planet throws the ball quite like Aaron Rogers.

Look for Rogers to find Jennings early and often to get the quick strike Packers on the board.  He probably won’t be as awesome as playing blackjack online, but he’ll still kick some tail.

4.) There will be MAYBE one good Super Bowl commercial, but some idiot at work on Monday will insist that was the only reason he watched the game.

Super Bowl commercials have become more overrated than this year’s season of American Idol… looking good Steven Tyler!

5.) Trick plays will have a huge impact on the game.

6.) Between those God-awful cheesehead hats, and the even more repugnant Terrible Towels, Dallas Cowboy Stadium will be a sea of puke-yellow.

The TV audience will be treated to 80,000 husky midwesterners, euphoric off Iron City Beer, Marlboro Reds and Super Nachos sharing inhalers, insulin and blood pressure meds. USA! USA!

7.) Fergie and the Black Eyed Peas will butcher the half time show.

Has a hip hop act ever killed it live?

On a side note, have you ever seen Fergie without make up? Yikes…

8.) Mike Tomlin will out-coach Mike McCarthy.

Both young coaches are on a short list for best coach in the game, but Tomlin has been here before and I think that will make all the difference.

9.) Clay Matthews may have felt put out that he lost the defensive player of the year award to Troy Polamolu, but the Super Bowl will justify the decision to all the neigh-sayers.

Clay Matthews is great, there’s no doubt but Big Play Troy is a game changer. With the spread being as close as it is, I think I’d stick to online casinos for usa players this weekend.

Though it would be great to see Matthews knock that stupid smile of Hines Ward’s mug.

10.) The Pittsburgh Steelers will win the Super Bowl 27-21 on the arm of the best big game quarterback in the league.

It’s really the next step in the progression of home sports watching. You use to be able to get baseball games on regular “antenna” TV, but now you need a cable package. Soon, I am sure cable companies will charge a fee to watch big games like the Super Bowl or the BCS National Championship. It only makes sense. You gonna tell me that people wouldn’t pay $40 bucks to watch the Super Bowl? I’m sure they would lose a few casual fans, but they would more than make up for it.

Personally, I think this blows. I’ve always been a proponent of watching games from my home. You may not get the same feel as you would in the stadium, but there definitely is an advantage to watching a game from your couch; instant replays, no need for binoculars, and not to mention much cheaper alcohol. But if I have to pay to sit on my couch just to watch some worthless f**king team disappoint me yet again, it won’t quite seem like i’m getting my money’s worth.

UFC and Boxing are really the only two “sports” that get away with pay per view events. It probably has more to do with the inconsistency of the events, as the typical big 3 sports usually have some type of regularity to their schedules. But most of those fans are weirdos that just love watching dudes beat the piss out of each other.

For a normal sports junkie like myself, I’m not sure I could afford to pay to watch all of my team’s games, let alone all of the other games that I watch that I could really give two s**ts about. This would really effect my existence on this planet. I’m actually getting more pissed off as I write this. I mean, who the hell is going to want to pay $40 bones to watch Florida vs. Appalachian State?!?! F**k!! Ass!!

The have won the Super Bowl, 31-17 against the Peyton Manning-led Colts and are now champions of the NFL.

Four years after Hurricane Katrina threatened to strip New Orleans of a football team, they have climbed to the pinnacle of the sport.  Additionally, it is the first time they have ever won the Super Bowl.

Drew Brees was the Super Bowl MVP.

N’awlins Mayor Ray Nagin predicts there will not be enough beer in town for the ensuing celebrations:

“We don’t riot. But we’re going to party like it’s 1999,” Nagin said. “And let me tell you, there’s not enough beer. I think the beer distributors are working overtime. This town is going to have one heck of a celebration. That is in the middle of Mardi Gras . . . There’s going to be a lot of people in detox, A.A., and what have you. We’re going to have a good time.”

The Saints will be making their first Super Bowl appearance in franchise history, and the fans of New Orleans are finally getting to live out all Browns and Lions fans’ wet dreams.

Since the inaugural Super Bowl, which at the time was called the First AFL-NFL World Championship Game, there have only been 5 teams that have never made it to the Big Game. Well that list is going to get 1 team smaller when the Saints take the field tonight.

The Browns, Lions, Jaguars, and Texans are the last 4 teams remaining, but the Browns and Lions are by far the two franchises that have suffered the most since Super Bowl I in 1967. Both of these teams have been in the league since before the Super Bowl was originated, so it is difficult to keep the Jaguars and the Texans in the same miserable conversation. But who knows, the Cardinals and Saints will make it two years in a row that a first timer will get to play in the Big Game, so maybe next year will be the lucky year for one of these other lonely franchises.

So for all of you ‘Who Dat’ fans out there, please take advantage of the awesomeness that comes with going to the Super Bowl. There are Browns and Lions fans out there that have no idea what this day feels like, so please make sure you appreciate the fact that there are some people that would literally give a left nut to go to the Super Bowl.

On the outside, there is nothing scary about him.  Until your lifelong goals are right in front of you and you have to stop him to achieve them.

Guys like Drew Brees, Tom Brady, and Donovan McNabb are respected quarterbacks, and deservedly so, but Peyton Manning is feared.

With the game on the line, who is better to lead your team than Manning? Why do you think Bill Belichick went for it on 4th and 2 on his own 28 earlier this season? He knew if he punted, Manning would beat him. This is coming from the smartest coach in the league.

Mike Tyson in his prime was not just respected, he was feared.  And this was before his repeated exhibitions in cannabilism.

Barry Bonds when he was more juiced up than a florida orange field, was feared. In fact, he holds the distinction of being one of only three players in major league history who was intentionally walked with the bases loaded.  Think about that for a second…  He was intentionally walked with the bases loaded.

Joe Montana and Jerry Rice were feared, and Michael Jordan was probably the most feared basketball legend of all time.

All of these athletes put fear in their opponents because they dominated their respective sport. Peyton Manning is no exception.

Think back to almost two weeks ago. The Jets held a 17-6 lead just before halftime and were confident as ever until Manning drove down the field to cut the score to a four point deficit at intermission.

That drive sunk the Jets confidence and they had no answers for the Manning-led Colts in the second half.

Sunday’s mega-game should be close because the Saints are explosive enough to keep up, but they won’t win the turnover battle by a landslide as they did against the Vikings. The reason for that: team discipline and Peyton Manning.

Fear the Manning.

The success rate of this simulation has been quite staggering. Madden has actually been correct in 5 of the last 6 Super Bowls with the only incorrect prediction being the Giants over the Patriots in Super Bowl XLII.

Well with all the success that Madden has been having in predicting the eventual Super Bowl champion, we here at JOCKpost are looking to take them on with some Super Bowl predictions of our own.

Even though we are confident in our sports knowledge (or lack there of), to make things easier on ourselves, each of our writers get to individually make their own pick.

Madden: Saints 35 Colts 31

This year, Madden NFL predicts a close Saints victory, with a final score of 35 – 31 over the Colts. According to the game, Drew Brees will be named the MVP after passing for 299 yards and three touchdowns. Reggie Bush will account for two more touchdowns, one rushing, and one on a punt return.

Peyton Manning can not be stopped. Every game he plays is a clinic on how to win football games.  The Saints aren’t even the best team in the NFC and if the Vikings didn’t gift wrap the NFC Championship we’d have a more competitive Super Bowl.

I’m going with the Saints.  New Orleans just seems to be more athletic than the Colts.  They are deeper at running back and wide receiver.  The Colts have the advantage at QB and TE, but with Dwight Freeney likely not to play, Brees will have more time to find his receivers and Bush out of the backfield.  I’m going with 38-34 in the shootout … WHO DAT!

As much as everyone expects it to be a shoot-out, I see it being a low scoring game.

Dwight Freeney, obviously, has a serious negative affect on Indy. New Orleans’ defense/special teams have a significant play-making advantage over Indianapolis’, and I think that will be the difference.

With Dwight Freeney being a huge question mark, the Colt’s defense may suffer a bit.  Despite this, and despite New Orleans playing with a lot of confidence, I still feel Peyton Manning will find a way to pull it out.  The game should be close, and it could come down to who has the ball last.

atom: Colts 30 Saints 14

Peyton Manning is on a mission, and he will not let his defense lose this for him. Even if Dwight Freeney can’t play, I still expect a solid performance from the Colts defense. The Saints’ offense will sputter and the Colts will pull away late for Peyton’s 2nd Super Bowl.

1. While they are relatively famous they aren’t even close to the other acts in previous Super Bowls. Most people under 30 I know couldn’t name a single who song.

2. Led Zeppelin would generate way more hype.  Even if they would be considerably more expensive, it would be worth the money. Especially when you consider the unbelievable amount of interest in the last show they played. It would be the most watched halftime show of all time.

3. These guys are too old. Have you seen them lately? Everyone knows that sex sells and there is nothing sexy about these guys. Turkey necks my friends. Turkey necks.

Thanks a lot Janet. You’re thirst for attention has now relegated us to reunion shows for 70 year-olds.  It might be time to consider an alternative form of entertainment.  I’ll be looking for something else to watch for sure.

It is clear the super bowl halftime entertainment selection committee is running out of baby boomer bands.  Who’s left?

Everywhere he’s coached, he’s produced; save for maybe a small dip in success in New York.

From 1997-1998, Sean Payton was hired for the role of quarterbacks coach for the Philadelphia Eagles. Under his tutelage the Eagles’ quarterbacks passed for 4,009 yards in 1997.

When he was in dallas from 2003-05 he was the quarterbacks coach, and later Assistant Head Coach to Bill Parcels. While there he tutored no-name Quincy Carter, and old guys Vinny Testaverde and Drew Bledsoe to 3,000 yard passing seasons consecutively.

Now in New Orleans, he’s got a stud in Drew Brees, and countless other weapons such as Reggie Bush, Jeremy Shockey, and Marques Colston.

You give him just anybody, he’ll produce. You give him stars, he takes his team to the biggest stage in sports. His style is creative, exciting, and most importantly, successful.

In the wake of Hurricane Katrina in 2006, Payton lead the Saints to their first playoff appearance in 6 years with a 10-6 record while dealing with a tragedy unlike no other. He won Coach of the Year that season.

After two mediocre years in ‘07, and ‘08, Payton and the Saints have exploded back onto the scene with a 13-0 start. They are absolutely the feel-good story of the NFL.

After losing their chance at perfection, they have marched through the playoffs with a formula that spells doom for opposing defenses.

All the different formations, the spreading the ball around in the running and passing game. You can’t try to shut down any one player because 5 or 6 others will beat you.

Brees and his cast of stars deserve all the credit in the world, but let’s not forget the creator of the sequel to the greatest show on turf, Sean Payton.

The “Ochocinco News Network” which the star WR put together last October with the help of Motorola, will be joined by current NFL stars Chris Cooley (Washington TE), Ray Rice (Baltimore RB), and Darnell Dockett (Arizona D-Line) to help cover the Super Bowl.

Apparently, Ochocrappo (Thanks Common Man) and crew will be a part of all the festivities including questioning the SB players.

“I can’t wait,” Cooley said. “It should be a lot of fun. Just to be interviewing Peyton (Manning), to talk to Drew Brees — that will be great.”

It makes you wonder how far will the Bengals WR be able to take this? Already known for his stupid ass, yet somehow hilarious touchdown celebrations, this could bring out the side of Stinko that we are all wanting to see. There is no way he can go all week without showing his ass. At least we can hope. I wonder if a media member has ever been fined by the NFL before?

If not, he will definitely get the opportunity to be the first, as he will be able to ask Commissioner Roger Goodell whatever he wants during his question and answer session.

“I’m not sure right now,” says Ochocinco. “When that time comes, I’ll be prepared for him. Trust me, I have a lot of questions for him.”

Now what questions could he ask that would be so interesting that the Commissioner wouldn’t just give him the proverbial middle finger to?
