-Memo to Terrell Suggs; If you call yourself “Sizzle”, and claim in the Sunday Night Football intro that you are a graduate of “Ball-So-Hard University”, you probably shouldn’t let Phillip Rivers hang 34 on you in front of a national audience.  You also are a monumental douche-wagon.  Baltimore got punched in the mouth by San Diego 34-14, as the Chargers kept their playoff hopes alive with the win.

-Vince Lombardi Romeo Crennell coached his Kansas City Chiefs to a victory over the previously unbeaten Packers.  The Pack looked slow, lethargic, and extremely uninterested in the game from the start.  While I don’t see this being a trend, it was a pretty big let down for Cheese-Head-Nation, while the ’72 Dolphins toasted their customary bottle of haterade.

-Don’t look now… but the Colts aren’t a lock for the #1 overall pick after their 27-13 win against Tennessee.  Jesus, Jim Caldwell can’t do anything right.

-Grace may say ‘Tim Tebow’ before dinner, but Tom Brady doesn’t care.  The Patriots were sharp in the second half Sunday in Denver, downing the Broncos 41-23.  Brady ended the day with 320 yards and a pair of scores through the air, and also punched one in on the ground.  In the end, the lead was too much, even for Tebow.

-Caleb Hanie should give back his pay check, because he is stealing money from the Chicago Bears.  The Bears tail-spin continued Sunday at home as the Seahawks railroaded Chicago 38-14, outscoring them 31-0 in the second half.  Yikes… Time to wave goodbye, Bears.

-Drew Brees single handedly punched my ticket to the Fantasy Football Finals with his preposterous 412 yard, 5 touchdown performance in just 3 quarters.  Arguably more important to Brees, his play helped the Saints improve to 11-3 with a swagger that has to make the Packers sweat a little bit.  The Saints are going off a 5-1 to win the Super Bowl on Sportsbook.com.  Hmmm….

-The Giants stink, and Brandon Jacobs is a colossal waste of talent.

-TJ Yates remembered that he was TJ Yates, tossing a pair of interceptions as the Texans lost to Carolina 28-13.  Carolina pulled out all the stops in the win, including one of the more exciting plays of the year.

-The Jets stink.  Mark Sanchez stinks.  I’ve been telling you that for 2 years.

-Megatron is back.  Lions QB Matthew Stafford found his favorite target 9 times for a career high 214 yards and a pair or scores as the Lions blocked a potential game winning field goal as time expired gifting the Lions a 28-27 victory.  Those crazy Lions…

On the outside, there is nothing scary about him.  Until your lifelong goals are right in front of you and you have to stop him to achieve them.

Guys like Drew Brees, Tom Brady, and Donovan McNabb are respected quarterbacks, and deservedly so, but Peyton Manning is feared.

With the game on the line, who is better to lead your team than Manning? Why do you think Bill Belichick went for it on 4th and 2 on his own 28 earlier this season? He knew if he punted, Manning would beat him. This is coming from the smartest coach in the league.

Mike Tyson in his prime was not just respected, he was feared.  And this was before his repeated exhibitions in cannabilism.

Barry Bonds when he was more juiced up than a florida orange field, was feared. In fact, he holds the distinction of being one of only three players in major league history who was intentionally walked with the bases loaded.  Think about that for a second…  He was intentionally walked with the bases loaded.

Joe Montana and Jerry Rice were feared, and Michael Jordan was probably the most feared basketball legend of all time.

All of these athletes put fear in their opponents because they dominated their respective sport. Peyton Manning is no exception.

Think back to almost two weeks ago. The Jets held a 17-6 lead just before halftime and were confident as ever until Manning drove down the field to cut the score to a four point deficit at intermission.

That drive sunk the Jets confidence and they had no answers for the Manning-led Colts in the second half.

Sunday’s mega-game should be close because the Saints are explosive enough to keep up, but they won’t win the turnover battle by a landslide as they did against the Vikings. The reason for that: team discipline and Peyton Manning.

Fear the Manning.

Despite severely dissappointing fans and media, the Saints and Colts decided that matching the ‘72 Dolphins accomplishments were not as important as winning it all. 

The NFL is all about entertainment.  The entertainment part may have taken a back seat during the last few games of the season for these teams, but now we can see that it was for good reason. 

Imagine the entertainment value of these playoff games if Curtis Painter or Mark Brunell was at the helm.  Imagine these disappointed fans and media if Manning or Brees goes down during one of those meaningless games.  How would 16-0 feel then? Does the NFL want that type of scenario in their highly rated playoffs or would they prefer a couple regular season games at the end? 

We all know the answer to that.   XLIV is truly a clash of the titans.  It’s the first time we’ve had two #1 seeds make it all the way to the Super Bowl since 1993, when the Cowboys thumped the Bills.

All year long people have been debating who is better between these two teams.  The answer is almost upon us.  Something’s got to give, right? 

Will Indianapolis’ fast break, pass only offense and underrated defense prevail?  Or will the high octane, feel-good story Saints take home the Lombardi Trophy?

This years Super Bowl will be an awesome game to watch. Not to take anything away from the Steelers smash mouth style of great defense and balanced, clock draining offense, but its time for the scoreboard to light up a little in what should be one hell of a shootout.

Some fans tailgate.  Others decorate a man cave.  Some dudes won’t wear an article of clothing that isn’t in their team’s colors.  Thousands more shell out a fourth of their annual salary to buy season tickets.

Other fans show their love and commitment by getting their team’s logo tattooed on their f**king head.  Now that’s what I’m talking about.

Peyton Manning is an asshole! Wait…no he isn’t.

Peyton Manning is a s**tty Quarterback! Ok, that is just a lie.

What the hell could I possibly say about Peyton Manning in a negative manner that wouldn’t be just me s**tting in someone’s coffee? He is one hell of a QB; He is actually pretty funny in most commercials he is in; He is extremely modest, and so on…

As an opposing fan, all of this kind of drives me insane. I want to hate him so bad, but he almost makes it impossible. He doesn’t do anything that would make people think low of him, which obviously makes him a PR Manager’s dream.

But is it possible that Peyton Manning would be even more admired if he was a huge douche bag? Bare with me here…

Everyone loves to have a Villain, and if Peyton Manning was a kids hating, puppy dog kicking, reporter bashing asshole, I think NFL fans would make him the most talked about, all be-it hated man in all of sports.

He is obviously the best at what he does as anyone in any position in sports, and not to mention QB could be the toughest position to master in all of sports. And while this does make him ridiculously famous/wealthy, all of the accomplishments he achieves are almost expected of him. Even for fans out there that hate the Colts, they have to respect him for what he has been able to accomplish on and off the field. But that s**t is hogwash…

I say to hell with Peyton Manning. I am sick and tired of him being so good, and so damn modest about it. Tell us that you know you are awesome! Tell us that every other QB in the NFL is a s**t stain in your underwear compared to the skills that you possess! It wouldn’t be a lie Peyton, I just want to hear you say it!

But we all know he won’t…

With Reggie Wayne facing the best shutdown corner in football, and #2 receiver Anthony Gonzales out with an injury, many were concerned the Colts didn’t have enough weapons to score against the Jets vaunted defense.  Peyton Manning found his stride with two receivers that had the best games of their careers, at the best time possible.

Pierre Garcon broke the AFC Championship game record in receptions with 11, for 151 yards.  He only has 2 other games in his career in which he caught for more than 100 yards.  On the other side, Austin Collie broke the 100 yard barrier for the first time in his career.

The last time a team had two receivers with over 100 yards in either an NFC or an AFC Championship game was Dan Marino in 1984.  Even more amazing, Mark Sanchez also had two receivers with over 100 yards tonight.  So we saw something twice in one game that we haven’t seen in over 25 years!

The Jets played tough and certainly should feel good about their future, but the Colts showed why they are the premier team in the NFL.  Peyton Manning has the uncanny ability to make others around him better than they could ever be without him.  Exactly like Michael Jordan.  The players around him refuse to let him down.    

Where are all the Jim Caldwell detractors?  Or how about those whiny-ass Colts fans who were bitching about the perfect season?  Where are they now?  Headed to the Super Bowl.   

That’s what I thought.

Sports Girls Featuring: Indianapolis Colts fans!!! (tomorrow will be New Orleans Saints & Minnesota Vikings fans)

Colts head coach Jim Caldwell is getting lambasted in the media today for not risking all of his players health.  These people are completely delusional.  I have heard everything from “He took the wind out of the season,” to “He coaches like a coward.”  The guy has won the first fourteen games in his career.  THIS IS HIS FIRST LOSS AS A HEAD COACH.

Imagine the amount of pressure he just removed from his players shoulders.  It’s not like he lost on purpose, but it wasn’t a big deal to him, I’m sure.  There’s nothing worse than a playoff team playing tight.  I don’t think Caldwell thinks his team is so unbeatable that they can slide through the playoffs playing tight.  He just took the 300 pound gorilla off their back.

Also, the people that say he just ruined the NFL season are just unflushable turds.  The NFL season’s interesting-ness [sic] is not determined by an undefeated team.  And Caldwell does not owe it to them to recklessly put his playoff chances at risk for fans’ intrigue.

If they would have lost in the playoffs they would have gone down as one of the biggest chokers in NFL history. No one wants to have the pressure of that hanging over your heads when entering the playoffs.

The bottom line is if you think your team is invincible, then go for the undefeated season. If not, then being undefeated is nothing more than an unnecessary burden.
