When the news broke of Lorenzen Wright’s disappearance, I immediately thought the worst. Guys like Wright don’t just disappear. He was about to take his kids to Atlanta with him.
He talked to his 13-year-old daughter every day. His mother begged him through the media to call her back. His entire family has been worried beyond sick for a week and a half.
I lived in Memphis in 1996-7 and I remember how big of a deal he was there. They take their college basketball very seriously.
After a day had passed and the APB from the media did not locate him, my thoughts turned even more grim. I then hoped they would find his body so at least his family would have some closure.
That day has tragically come.
Police have not ruled what type of death it was. No suspects have been named. Only recently have reports popped up telling of his body being found in a wooded area near where he was last seen.
