Pittsburgh Steelers fans are many things. Passionate. Relentlessly loyal. Hyperglycemic.
The “Terrible Towel” been the embodiment of blue collar, grab your hard hat and your lunch pail, smash mouth football for as long as I can remember.
The people of Pittsburgh have always been proud of their football team. However, if you wave that black and yellow rag over your head during football season, there are two things you must know;
- You look like an idiot.
- Your football team is in a lot of trouble right now.
The Pittsburgh Steelers are the most dysfunctional franchise in the National Football League.
The most recent example of their unravelling is the Men’s Journal interview with James Harrison. If you haven’t read the interview, it’s as bad as it sounds. Harrison admits to animal abuse and shows a reprehensible lack of understanding towards homosexuals by referring to Commissioner Roger Goodell as a “f*ggott”.
The problem with James Harrison, other than being a cruel intolerant bigot, is that he is not smart. In fact, he is dumb.
The negative backlash Harrison endured following the interview was swift and just. Harrison backed off his comments almost immediately by saying his statement wasn’t “intended to be derogatory”.
Please give me an example of that word NOT being derogatory. Moron. I guess Kent State never was known for churning out rocket scientists.
As if bashing an entire community of individuals wasn’t bad enough, Harrison went on to lambaste his starting quarterback along with his starting running back.
Predictably, Harrison backed off the comments. He claimed they were taken out of context, but read the article and tell me how calling Rashard Mendenhall a “fumble machine” can be taken any other way.
Speaking of Mendenhall, his Twitter account is another reason that this team is spiraling out of control. The “fumble machine” infamously tweeted of Osama Bin Laden’s death “we only heard one side…”.
Yes, Rashard, we heard the side that told the story of the most disgusting man to ever walk the planet. How he killed thousands of innocent Americans and was proud of it. Any rebuttal seems unnecessary and insulting. How any American can cheer for this monster moving forward is beyond me.
And then we have Hines Ward. As if dressing like this wasn’t embarrassing enough, Ward was arrested for driving under the influence recently.
This was not the smug wide receivers first legal problem with his vehicle. Ward was charged with reckless driving in the past, and also has asked his Facebook friends to help remind him to “stop texting, tweeting, or facebook while driving”.
Can someone take this guy’s keys away? Please stay out of my neighborhood, Ricky Bobby.
Another Pittsburgh Steelers I don’t want within 50 miles of my neighborhood? Ben Roethlisberger. No need to pile on… we all know he is the ring leader of these Pittsburgh scum bags.
For an organization that was once so proud, how will the Rooney’s respond to the downfall that their franchise has experienced after their most recent Super Bowl loss?
Lebron James thinks the Steelers made some bad decisions this off-season.
Sooner than later, they are going to have to line up on the field and play together. With so many off the field distractions, don’t be surprised if those stupid yellow towels are spending more time being slung to the ground in frustration rather than celebrating victories.
It’s all downhill from here, Steeler fan. And that makes me smile like that cha-cha-ing booze hound that wears #86.
