The Seattle Sounders of the MLS are doing something that many sports franchises throughout history should have done time and time again: giving fans a refund for having to sit through a s**thole of a game.
After losing 4-0 to the LA Galaxy, Sounders Midfielder Steve Zakuani said the fans deserve an apology and shouldn’t have had to pay to see that kind of performance – and apparently team ownership thought this was a good idea.
The refund will be for a 1 game credit toward next year’s season tickets, but unfortunately for Sounders fans, they will never get that 2-3 hours of their life back.
Not only does this make this team look like humongous losers, which they are, but it also has to piss off every other owner of a sports franchise in the world. How many Browns or Lions fans feel that they deserve a refund? What about the f**king Clippers season ticket holders?
It goes without saying that this will not begin a trend in any other sport. The MLS is without a doubt struggling compared to the NFL, MLB, and the NBA, and with the awesome product that American’s are going to get to see in the World Cup…I have a feeling more and more MLS fans will be asking for their money back.
