No Passing Against The 2010 New York Jets
The word shutdown is an understatement as the Jets complimented Darrelle Revis with the signing of Antonio Cromartie.
Only 25 years of age, Cromartie still has his best years in front of him in Rex Ryan’s air tight defense. He’s had some legal troubles and has seven children with several different women but let’s face it, the guy can play.
Playing opposite Revis, this may be the best tandem in the NFL.
Cromartie was an All-Pro in 2007 with 10 interceptions including 2 in the playoffs to help San Diego get to the AFC Championship game. That same
year Cromartie had the longest touchdown in NFL history with a 109 yard return for a TD against Minnesota on a missed field goal.
One thing Cromartie is not known for, however, is consistent hustle and tackling ability. Rex Ryan should be able to figure that one out.
The Jets made it all the way to the AFC Championship game in 2009-10 with a rookie quarterback in Mark Sanchez, and a very tough defense.
Now the defense is even tougher and Sanchez has a year of experience under his belt. With the NFL Draft around the corner, the Jets have an opportunity to draft some offensive weapons.
If this team can score, opponents better watch out. With the NFL’s best shutdown corner in Revis, and the addition of another in Cromartie, we may see Mark Sanchez running off the field in February a la Joe Namath.
