Ohio State Crushes Marshall, No Slow Start This Year

Ohio State Crushes Marshall, No Slow Start This YearOhio State has been known to start the season slow.  Often times during the first couple weeks of the season they play down to the talent level of their opponent.  Especially the offense.

Not this year.

OSU’s offense looked like a finely tuned machine last night, completely imposing their will on an overmatched Marshall defense, who had no shot at stopping the many weapons the Buckeyes have on offense this year.

In fact, it only took 9 seconds for the Buckeyes to force a turnover — blasting the ball from the kick returner’s grip on the opening play.  They didn’t stop there.

The most improved player of the season so far for Ohio State?  Without question it’s Terrelle Pryor.  He was completing passes last night that  he has never made in his career.  He looked poised, calm and, most of all, confident.

The only trace of old Terrelle resurfaced on one play where he felt some pressure and he lobbed a jump ball into double coverage 30 yards downfield.  Fortunately for Pryor, it ended up an incomplete pass.

At that moment Buckeye fans had to be a bit scared that Pryor hadn’t made the mental adjustments needed to take his game, and his team, to the next level.

Surely Jim Tressel will bring that up in the upcoming film sessions.

Next week won’t be so easy.

Ohio State will play Miami in one of the most anticipated non-conference games this year next week.  Both teams played last night, so they will have an equal amaount of time to prepare for each other.

Miami destroyed Florida A&M last night, 45-0, and third-year starting quarterback Jacory Harris only had to play one half.  Both teams have experience, athleticism and, most importantly, loads of talent.

The Buckeyes, who have traditionally been known as a “slow-footed” team, showed off that they have some of the fastest players in college football, highlighted by Brian Rolle’s pick-six and former track star Brandon Saine’s touchdown run.

The amount of athletic ability on the field in next week’s game will be staggering.

Who do you think will win?
