This past week I played in a softball game that was rather non-competitive – it was one of those games that it was almost not fun because of how horrible the other team was.
At one point in time during the second inning, while we were already winning by more than 20 runs, the other team’s shortstop booted a routine ground ball. It was probably his 3rd error of the game, so when he decided to throw the ball to the ground as hard as he could allowing 2 additional runs to score, I could somewhat understand his frustration.
But while this was borderline unacceptable in a massacre of a slow pitch softball league, something like this should never happen from a “professional” athlete – and someone needs to explain this to Nyjer Morgan.
After dropping a fly ball against the Orioles last night, Nationals CF Nyjer Morgan decides to get pissed and slam his glove onto the ground instead of going after the ball he just booted. Baltimore’s Adam Jones would go on to score an inside the park home run.
According to teammates, Morgan thought the ball went over the fence. And if you watch the video, I could almost buy that – he does look as though the play is over.
But to be perfectly honest, I think having a career of playing only for the Pirates and Nationals is finally starting to get the best of him.► Read more articles written by atom.
