How can you not be pumped about the NCAA Tournament? Even though we had a 3-inch f**king SNOW/ICE STORM last night out of nowhere I’m still walking with an extra spring in my step.
If last night’s games are any indicator, we are in for some great games tonight. The Xavier/Kansas St. game was absolutely incredible.
Because my bracket is actually doing pretty well right now (ranked 50,929 right now on ESPN, 98.9 pct, semzomultimedia 1), I was initally rooting for K-State. But as the game drew on it was impossible not to root for Xavier. They absolutely REFUSED to lose.
Kansas State persevered in the end, after 2 overtimes. Even then, I gotta give a shout out to Xavier guards Jordan Crawford and Terrell Holloway. Ice water.
And how about Jacob Pullen? His tenacity won that game in the end. Plain and simple.
Obviously I can’t overlook Butler’s triumph over #1 seed Syracuse, but it feels like less than the upset everyone’s making it out to be. Butler has a 23 game winning streak. That doesn’t happen by accident.
Kentucky played s**tty/sloppy, but their raw athleticism overpowered Cornell’s un-scholarshipped roster. They won’t be able to win out playing like that.
West Virginia has mastered the art of winning ugly games. Last night’s victory over Washington was brutal to watch, with way more sludge than flash. But they did what they’re supposed to do: beat the #11 seed.
Tonight’s games look to be every bit as exciting. One of us will be live tweeting the Ohio State vs. Tennessee game, so for real time smart-assness, follow us at http://twitter.com/JOCKpost
