They call him The Senator in Columbus. Everywhere else he is less affectionately known as The Vest.
In this instance you could simply call him Sorry.
Of course, he’s sorry. He just got body slammed with a two-game suspension and a $250,000 fine by the NCAA. That’s about 1/14 of his total salary.
He responded to the media in typical robotic fashion:
“Obviously I’m disappointed that this happened at all,” Tressel said. “I take my responsibility for what we do at Ohio State tremendously seriously and for the game of football.
“I plan to grow from this. I’m sincerely saddened by the fact that I let some people down and didn’t do things as well as I possibly could have.”
The punishment is the result of Tressel having prior knowledge of the Tattoo-Gate, but not telling anyone. When the NCAA has to find something out, the NCAA is not very happy.
Oops. Say one thing about the guy — he didn’t want to snitch.
Combine this with the already suspended star players, including QB Terrelle Pryor, and you’ve got a recipe for a s**tpie of a season. It should be interesting to see next year if the football factory also known as tOSU falters, even just a little bit.
The good news? Michigan fan finally has something to cheer about.
If you want to hear what robot-coach had to say about the suspension, the 9-minute video below has you covered. He quotes George Bush. Yay.
