The older I get, the more I realize my ability for sport’s multi-tasking has weakened. I really don’t think it has anything to do with a lack of interest in any and all sports, but has more to do with the fact that I can’t seem to get even a small break from any of them anymore.
We are right in the heart of the playoffs in baseball with the AL and NL Championship series just getting underway, and the NFL is entering a do or die part in the season where teams have to prove if they are contenders or pretenders. It is fantastic! Not to mention College Football, which has basically turned into a holiday every single Saturday. This trio of sports awesomeness is giving me my fill, and I’m not quite sure I have anymore room for other sports to try and interfere.
This is where the NBA and NHL come in. The NHL Season has somehow already started (not sure how many people noticed), and it feels like I am trying to force down the last bight of a Thermanator. It’s hard for me to get really into hockey when there is nothing else on, let alone when I have so many other great sporting events to watch.
The NBA is what I feel like the morning after my experience the the Thermanator. It is only in the pre-season, but with all of the LeBron s**t going on, including ESPN’s dick sucking “Heat Index“, I just feel disgusted even thinking about the amount of South Beach coverage that I am going to have to deal with.
Like I said, it’s not that I don’t like these sports, it’s just that I am not ready for them. Do the NHL and NBA seasons really have to last 9 months? Is it really that necessary? Just go away until, say, late November. It will give the MLB season time to finish out the World Series, and the College Football regular season will be coming to a close. I’m just asking. As a fan. A fan that is too full.
