The best thing about being on a team that has great camaraderie, is being able to feel comfortable enough to f**k with your teammates. It obviously helps when you win, but anyone that has ever been in a locker room knows that anything goes.
Some people go with the post-game cream pie to the face, but that’s just started to lose its flavor. So I guess the next best thing you can do is completely ridicule (in a joking way) your teammate through the media.
Brandon Phillips took a shot at his teammate Mike Leake after Leake pitched the Reds to a 7-4 win today over the Diamondbacks. Referring to Leake’s arrest earlier this week for shoplifting almost $60.00 worth of t-shirts from Macy’s, here is the gem Phillips through our way (VIDEO).
“I really tip my cap off to him. He went out there, he did his job regardless of what happened or whatever, but you know – I love him to death but…it feels good for him to steal a win like that.”
This was followed by immediate laughter by Phillips, so it’s obvious he wasn’t just trying to be cute. That was an awesomely designed shot at a teammate, that to be honest, deserves any and all public criticism that comes his way. Even if it comes from a guy that is supposed to be one of the leaders of your team.
But really, I can’t even imagine the type of s**t Leake has been catching behind closed doors by Phillips and the rest of the Reds players. Although, wouldn’t it be funny if Phillips was the one that he lost a bet to?
