Is Mike Leake A Klepto, Did He Lose A Bet Or Is It The Bengals Fault?

Cincinnati Reds pitcher Mike Leake was arrested two days ago for allegedly shoplifting.

What’s awesome is that he pitched that night — and notched a win at that.

When a guy makes $450,000 a year, it’s hard to understand what is really going on. He supposedly ripped the tags off six $10 t-shirts and tried to get out without paying.

Come on, Mike. Sixty bucks? What’s really going on here?

It can only be one of a few things.

1.) He’s a kleptomaniac. This is the obvious one. Some people have an illness that forces them to steal. It doesn’t matter if they can afford it or not — it’s the stealing they lust for.

2.) He lost a bet. After a drunken night of Boo-Ray, a friend reminded him of a lost bet. He promised to run naked through the mall for one full minute. At the last minute, he chickened out and begged his friend to let him settle the score by stealing some t-shirts.

3.) It’s Cincinnati. Leake is new in town and started hanging out at the jock bar. Pretty soon he was hanging out with the football team, since they have nothing better to do. You know what happens to good kids when they start hanging out with the bad crowd. It’s not his fault, ma, I swear.
