Miami Heat Will ALWAYS Be Dwyane Wade’s Team

Miami Heat Will ALWAYS Be Dwyane Wades TeamIt’s that time again!  Guest blogger Dylan Murphy from Pardon the Opinion has provided us with his reaction to the LeBracle.

It seems that Dwyane Wade is the only one who has remained unscathed throughout the compilation of Miami’s big three. Chris Bosh is just a tag along, hanging onto the coattails of LeBron and Wade. LeBron is a traitor, callously abandoning his hometown team in the most public fashion possible. Wade, however, walked through the fire without burning himself.

In an attempt to defend his free agency coup, Wade lashed out at the criticism his Heat have received by disparaging “false reports,” which claim that great players do it on their own.  Magic did not do it on his own, he said. Neither did Larry or Jordan, he continued.

Wade is right; no player has singlehandedly won a championship. Magic and Kareem, Bird had Parish and McHale, and Jordan had Pippen. But apparently Dwyane needs to get the wax out of his ears. No one is saying that great players do it on their own. It’s that they do it with their own team. No matter how you look at it, it was Magic’s Lakers. Bird’s Celtics. Jordan’s Bulls. But no matter how many MVP’s or championships LeBron brings to the Heat, they will always be Wade’s Heat.

He has already brought a title to Miami. He’s the hometown hero. He’s the one who reigned in the talent to surround him. When the First Triumvirate (my favorite nickname for them) parades itself throughout Miami in spectacle after spectacle, Wade is always in the middle. In every picture, interview and poster, Wade is in the middle. That’s what Wade seems to forget. Yes, no one does it alone. But no one has joined the enemy, either.

Maybe the saying is, “if you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em.” But not in the NBA. If you can’t beat ‘em, you keep improving your team and yourself until you can. You have proved nothing by joining the best.

Dwyane needs to realize that no one is blaming him. In fact, I would praise him. He’s made his own team the heavy favorite to win the title. He’s already won a title as the leader of his own team. LeBron has not. Historically, this is what separates great players from the best players. They win titles by beating the best. By joining Bosh and Wade in Miami, LeBron has forfeited his chance at becoming one of the best players in the NBA’s history.

This is why we have all become so critical. Yes, LeBron’s abandoning of Cleveland was cruel, but choosing to join the best, and not beat them, is what hurts the most. We wanted to see another historically great player, but LeBron has ignored that opportunity. So Dwyane, I only ask that you pay attention to the criticism. I know you’re just trying to defend your new teammates, but for once the media has it right.

  1. Lame criticism... says:

have you noticed that the people giving this dumb criticism (Barkley, chris webber, Reggie miller) all never won anything? Are they remembered as courageous because they tried to “do it on their own”? no. they’re remembered as some of the best players who have never won. Scottie pippen was easily a top 5 player in the league, just look at the stats. did he have the ego to demand a trade so he could “do it on his own”? no. he shut up, played great and won 6 rings. and he’s remembered as a champion and easily one of the 50 greatest. I know you’re going to say, “well Lebron could’ve been THE greatest.” but guess what? I would rather be scottie pippen, win 6 rings and be a hall of famer, one of the greatest ever, than Charles Barkley who tried to “do it on his own” until he was washed up with the rockets, and failed then too. clearly, Lebron feels the same way. if he wins, he’ll be remembered as a winner, and who stands in the middle in the photo is something that only matters on blogs.

Someone with the talent of LeBron only comes around once a decade. Don’t even try to compare Barkley, Webber, or Reggie Miller to LeBron. Those bums couldn’t hold LeBron’s cock. But LeBron did choose the easy way out instead of trying to do it on his own, and it IS a p***y thing to do. Scottie Pippen will always live in the shadow of Michael Jordon, which he is probably ok with, but LeBron had the chance to be so much more, and he blew it. And it is completely different when you get drafted by a team. Pippen was lucky enough to get traded on draft day to the Bulls. Without Jordan, Pippen would be on the same level as Dominique Wilkins. NOT one of the 50 greatest of all time.

  3. Lang says:

Would Bird ever leave the Celts to join Isaih and the Pistons or Magic or vice versa ? Would Jordan leave to join another top 5 player in the league? No way those guys were way too competetive! Scotty Pippen is great and could have been the number one guy anywhere else. But he was drafted by the bulls. He wasn’t the guy on another team, failed to get it done and then join Jordan. Magic was drafted by the lakers when Kareem was the alpha dog there. He didn’t leave a team after failing to join Kareem. And the same goes for Bird and the celtics! It’s different and no one can tell me otherwise. The cavs brought everyone in that lebron wanted and he could not carry that team over the hump. If he had the attributes that Bird, Jordan,Thomas, Magic, etc had then he would be way to stubborn/competetive to take the easy way out and join bosh and Wade in Miami. No one will ever compare Lebron to those guys again, and that’s ok if Lebron can live with that. And if he lebron can live with that, that explains everything. That explains why he is nothing like those other guys.

  4. Lang says:

Btw pippen is one of the 50 greatest turf, bill simmons had him as high as 24 in his book of basketball in which he ranks his top 96. Check pippens numbers the year Jordan left to play baseball.

  5. kris says:

pippen not top 50?! are you kidding me … there is no way you can name 50 people better than scottie pippen. maybe 40 people better but not 50.

  6. TurkTickler says:

If you think stats are what makes you one of the greatest players of all time, then you might as well say Iverson is one of the top 5 players of all time. Stats don’t mean s**t. And without Jordan, Pippen wouldn’t have been s**t. Even bad teams need a player to score all of their points, which is what the Bulls were when Jordan left.

  7. Lang says:

Pippen:top 5 player in league in 94,95,96.top 10-92 and97. Top 15 in 93,98. All defense 10x ,8 of those first team. Averaged 20-8-6 in his 4 year peak. Not bad with Jordan being the number 1. When the dream team was put together the priority list goes as follows, Jordan, magic, bird,Robinson then pippen.with Jordan gone lead team in points, boards, assists, steals, blocks.something only 3 guys has ever done. Daly said about pippen on the dream team that he was their 2nd best player. The stats are not what makes pippen one of the top 50 at all. His avgetages were not great bc he played with Jordan. He was top 3 defender of the 90’s and he could do it all. He played point guard for the bulls alot, guarded the other teams best player. It is talked about that his bball I.Q. Was ridiculous, n his athletic ability was insane.when other players/coaches/ n people that know far more about the history of the NBA say he is that good I beleive em.

  8. TurkTickler says:

@Lang – you can bark off all the stats you want. Did you grow up in Chicago? Did you get to watch Pippen and the Bulls play when Jordan left? I had season tickets to the peice of s**t Bulls team after Jordan left, and trust me, Pippen was not one of the greatest players in the league. He was not a leader. He just rode the coattails of Jordan. Period.
