Running onto the field has become almost a nightly event for fans in various MLB parks this year. But this time it was a little different.
In New York, outside Citi Field last night people were protesting the Arizona immigration law and closer to the subway people were handing out leaflets.
It seems that Arizona Diamondbacks games are becoming the convenient place for people to hold a protest. I’m not sure, but last time I checked, the Diamondbacks weren’t the ones responsible for making the laws.
Two men ran onto Citi Field last night during the game carrying the Mexican flag as they were chased by security.
Somehow, this is supposed to sway people’s opinion on the immigration laws being enforced in Arizona. I don’t think Americans are somehow impressed by someone carrying a flag for another country. What these guys seem to forget is that they are not in Mexico, but in the USA. It would make more sense if they were waving American flags.
I’m just not entertained by people running onto the field. It’s a baseball game! Enough with the five minutes of fame. Whether you are protesting, or simply being a drunk dumbass, it really needs to stop.
One question: Imagine if this happened in Philly — would they have been tased?

Actually, Ken Kendrick (owner of the Damondbacks) is bankrolling the politicians responsible for this law. http://www.thenation.com/blog/diamondbacks-owner-ken-kendrick-continues-support-sb-1070
What would have been better is if a security guard vomited on the field runners.
Yeah, but just because they were Mets fans.
They should shoot the next dumb ass to run on a field with a real bullit in front of everyone to send a message to all the other dumb asses. “If he dies, he dies”
RE: stANK
While I appreciate the sentiment, you should never combine Ivan Drago and bullets in the same sentence…it doesn’t make sense and causes mass head e’splosion.
Ken Kendrick did not provide a suite at the stadium to raise money for any politician, let alone “bankrolling SB10780.” The suite was reserved and paid for through the stadium authority, with funds provided by the candidate. Many groups and businesses rent suites for all kinds of purposes. This suite was rented prior to anyone even knowing about SB1070. Ken has never donated money to politicians especially associated with SB1070. He supports the national Republican Party and many Republican candidates, both state and federal. Immigration policy has never been an interest of his, but he does support the free enterprise system and the founding principles of our Constitution. He has probably given over twenty million dollars to children’s charities throughout Arizona over the last two decades. Most of the beneficiaries of his efforts have been Hispanic. Characterizing him as racist and insensitive and uncaring is so unfair. Certainly it has been hurtful to him and to our children. —Randy Kendrick
At least something exciting happen in a baseball game
