Who’s The Better Manager, Lou Brown or Lou Piniella?

Whos The Better Manager, Lou Brown or Lou Piniella? As most of you already know, we lost one of the games best baseball managers on film, Lou Brown (James Gammon), to cancer earlier this week. And No matter how fictional he might have been, he could possibly be the most remembered manager the Indians have had in a long time, besides possibly Mike Hargrove. He has brought so many memorable quotes that many of my friends have recited over the years, that sometimes we will spend hours (or at least numerous minutes) going back and forth seeing who can remember the most.

But not only have we lost this Cleveland legend, we are also going to be losing the last manager to bring a World Series to the statWhos The Better Manager, Lou Brown or Lou Piniella?e of Ohio.

Lou Piniella, who managed the New York Yankees (1986-87), Cincinnati Reds (1990-1992), Seattle Mariners (1993-2002), Tampa Bay Devil Rays (2004-05), and Chicago Cubs (2006-Present), has decided to hang up the cleats for good, announcing his retirement – rather than getting fired – at the end of the 2010 season. A move, that while should not be shocking, is at least a little bit bittersweet as someone who watched all of his temper tantrums as manager of the Reds. It is some of the first baseball I remember watching in which my emotions were involved.

But now that both careers of these amazing coaches have reached their end, which Lou do you think has had the better career?

Obviously, Piniella managed a while longer than Brown, but with Brown’s lack of experience he totally made up for in personality. When he couldn’t be at the game due to a heart attack, even the pretty s**t in England couldn’t keep him away. And even though this is not really a serious debate, Brown’s made-up Whos The Better Manager, Lou Brown or Lou Piniella?success has left the fans of Cleveland a reason to believe – which could be why they are currently on a 6 game winning streak.

But in all seriousness, Lou Piniella is one of the last hard core managers that are still around. Sure, he hasn’t had much success in his time with the Cubs, but leading a team to a World Series, then leading a different team to the most wins in league history is a pretty damn good career in its own. I just hope this last decade or so with the Devil Rays and Cubs don’t diminish the great times and foolish shenanigans he is better known for by Reds and Mariners fans.

So even though both of these managers will be missed throughout the world of baseball fans, there is nothing you can do to remove either of these guys list of amazing quotes from our minds. And while Piniella might be the coach you would choose to coach your real team to a World Series, Coach Brown will forever be known as the manager that would take A-Rod’s contract, and piss on it.

still got to go with sweet lou, can’t stand that he is ruining his legacy with the cubs but I can forget all about these past few god awful years.

Outrageous. How many contracts has Pinella pissed on? How many white walls has moved? I’ll take Lou Brown every day, and twice on Sunday.
