Finally, someone affiliated with Notre Dame is starting to act like they have some sense. Oddly enough, however, I never would have thought that person would be Lou Holtz.
Holtz, who was undeniably a fantastic coach and motivator, has changed his feelings on whether or not Notre Dame should join a conference. And even though I laugh at times when the “old man” goes off on his little tangents, this isn’t just some ex-alum speaking out to hear himself talk. This is one of the most respected coaches in ND history.
“I’m an old man, and all my life I’ve said that Notre Dame should remain independent because it’s a national school,” said Holtz. “We played the very best in the country from Texas to Tennessee to Miami of Florida to Southern Cal. However, two days ago was the first time I’ve ever said that I think Notre Dame ought to seriously consider joining the Big Ten. Because what I see happening, I see four or five superconferences.”
There are many reasonable explanations as to why Notre Dame should join the Big 10; from Geography, to the Midwestern style of tough football, to the ultimate change that will occur with these superconferences, and not to mention the dollar dollar bills ya’ll. It all just makes sense.
But even though Holtz has finally joined the world of the people that think with their brain, there will always be people that feel Notre Dame should stay independent. It’s that “were better than you” mentality that has always been present in the eyes of Notre Dame penis lovers. It doesn’t even have to be about football necessarily for them to express this way of thinking. Just this week, the Ohio version of Touchdown Jesus burnt down, and of course, the comments all over the internet from Notre Dame fans were, “This isn’t the real Touchdown Jesus, the real one is at Notre Dame” (Imagine I just said that with a cock down my throat, because that is what the voice sounded like in my head).
Do I feel that Notre Dame will make the Big 10, 14, 16, whatever they end up being called, a better conference? Of course! But I also do not feel that the Big 10 NEEDS Notre Dame in order to move on with the times.
And with these words of Lou Holtz now floating around, it would actually appear we are getting closer to it being the other way around.

The old man has gone senile…ND should forever stay independent. It has nothing to do with us thinking we are better than everyone else, it is because we KNOW we are better than everyone else!!!!
