Longest Ever Hockey Game Takes Nearly 6 Hours To Complete
You have never been this tired.
Quinnipiac beat Union College 3-2 today in the longest hockey game in college history. It took five overtimes and 150 minutes and 22 seconds of game time, nearly 6 hours of real-time, but game one in a best of three series is finally complete.
Quinnipiac’s Greg Holt scored the winning goal.
“I am too tired to think about anything,” Holt said, as reported by the Albany Times Union. “I was just trying to get the puck to the net . . . I can’t even tell you how tired I am because I can’t even think right now.”
With hockey being one of the most physically demanding sports in the world, it is unfathomable to even think about playing hockey for this long.
What’s even weirder, the previous record was set in 2006, when the Union College lost to Yale 3-2 in a game that was 141 minutes and 35 seconds long.
