Jose Pedroso Chokes Referee For Repeated Bad Calls [Video]

Everyone reading this has wanted to choke a referee.  Some of you would have loved to have beaten a ref with a lead pipe, or worse – make him listen to Chris Berman home run calls, tied to chair, for hours on end.

In Chile, one player took matters into his own hands.

In a Chile Primera B soccer match between between Concepcion and Rangers, the teams had played to a scoreless tie at halftime. But in the second half all that changed.

After scoring a long-shot goal, Concepcion was awarded a penalty kick after a foul by Rangers. The PK’er got not one, not two, not three, but FOUR tries to make the shot after referee, Marcelo Miranda, kept calling encroachment by the goalie and who knows what else.

Needless to say Rangers was uber-pissed.

Not long after, Pedroso was given a second yellow card for a phantom hit followed by a ridiculous flop. (Video below. I mean, why the hell is he holding his balls?)

As Miranda approached Pedroso to give him his send-off, Pedroso put Miranda in a choke hold from behind.

Pedroso was hilariously unapologetic after the match: “I’m not sorry… I understand that I will be punished and I will no longer play for Rangers or any other team. I intend to get away from football, I’d rather be at peace with my family in Paraguay.”

Maybe he’s “trying to get away from football”, or maybe he realizes no team in Chile would ever sign someone crazy enough to choke a ref. This is what you would call a disgraced resignation.

I can’t really recall the last time I saw a player put a referee in a choke hold, although Joey Crawford has made me want to on more than one occasion.
