Jeff Ireland, Dez Bryant, He Said, She Said, Who Gives a F**k
Whether it was Yahoo! Sports, Mike Ditka, or even JOCKpost, people have been slamming Jeff Ireland all week for his “inappropriate” question that he asked Dez Bryant regarding his mother being a prostitute. A question, that at the time the story broke, seemed to be just another “oops, I think I just pooped my pants” kind of question that probably shouldn’t have been asked.
But could the question really have been avoided?
According to SI.com, the reason Dez Bryant was asked the question on whether or not his mom was a prostitute, was because Bryant told Ireland before the question was asked that his father was a “pimp”. Apparently, this is how the interview went down after Bryant was asked what his father did for a living:
DB – “My dad was a pimp.”
JI – “What did your mom do [for a living]?”
DB – “She worked for my dad.”
JI – “Your mom was a prostitute?”
DB – “No, she wasn’t a prostitute.”
Now…according to Ed Werder of ESPN, Bryant is denying the report that he told Ireland that his father was a pimp. Thus leading to the he said, she said type of bulls**t that we are currently going through…as if any of this will really matter in a couple of weeks anyway.
But if it is true that Bryant told Ireland that his father was a pimp, and that his mom worked for his father, what the f**k kind of follow up question was he supposed to ask? I mean, was he supposed to think that Bryant’s mom was his dad’s f**king bookkeeper or something?
Regardless of whose story is true, Mark McGwire’s twin brother (not really) has completely lost the battle of right and wrong before the facts have even been laid out. And because the media (including us) is so gung-ho on being the first person to report the breaking news, sometimes, or a lot of the times, all the facts aren’t exactly on the table.
Maybe we will never know the truth behind what really occurred in this meeting, but I have a feeling this is just the beginning of the nightmare that will be the Dez Bryant/Dallas Cowboys relationship.

If it was true that this is the way the interview went down, why didn’t Ireland come out and say this right away? Why does everything have to get turned around to make Dez look like a bad dude?
