Have you ever been out to a bar and seen a young kid drinking a beer that makes you ask yourself, “Jesus, is that kid even old enough to drive?”
Apparently Permian High School did not get that feeling toward 22 year old, Guerdwich Montimere.
Montimere, a naturalized U.S. citizen from Haiti, tried to pass himself off as 16 year old, Jerry Joseph, a 6’5” high school student that led his basketball team to the Texas state playoffs last year.
The jig was up when coaches from Florida recognized Guerdwich as an all-star high school player in Fort Lauderdale a couple years back while playing in an amateur tournament in Arkansas.
School officials say they grew more suspicious when they contacted immigration services and found other evidence. They should go by my life rule: never trust a man with two first names.
Police arrested Montimere at Permian High School on Tuesday and charged him with presenting false identification to a police officer. He is being held on $500 bond and if convicted could face up to 6 months in jail and a fine of up to $2500.
Not too bad for being a fake person for more than a year. I always wanted to go back and play high school ball now that I am a little more coordinated and have more knowledge of the game.
Although, I would probably be ineligible to play because I have not taken a math test for 10 years now and I would probably knock up a few 18-year-olds deeming me a disgrace to all humanity.
But I digress. This makes me wonder how much s**t Greg Oden had to assemble to get through high school.
