Georgia CB Arrested For Not Knowing His Middle Name
I know. Sounds kind of ridiculous, right? But unfortunately for the arresting officer and for the Georgia CB, it is the truth.
Jordan “Lawrence” Love, a CB for the Georgia Bulldogs football team, was arrested and charged Monday night in Clarke County, GA for misdemeanor obstruction, after telling a police officer that he did not know his middle name. Apparently, he was being truthful, however.
“Mr. Love gave his first and last name, but he said he didn’t know his middle name, then said he kind of knew it, but didn’t know how to spell it,” said UGA Police Cheif Jimmy Williamson. “After I spoke with family members today I could see the officer’s point of view, where he thought Mr. Love was evasive and uncooperative, but (Love’s) mother explained that he does not go by his middle name for personal reasons,” Williamson said.
Personal reasons huh? I don’t go by my middle name either, but I can still remember the damn thing. I can even spell it too!
Police were called because Love and a group of others were apparently setting off fireworks in the courtyard of McWhorter Hall.
It makes you wonder how someone who can’t spell his middle name can even get into college? Oh, that’s right. He can play football.
Maybe I am just being a dick here, but come on. I don’t feel the kid should have been arrested for being a moron, but if I am the police officer in this situation, I could understand how frustrating it would be to have to deal with a situation like this. It would be hard to believe that someone couldn’t remember the name Lawrence. This isn’t exactly the most difficult name I have seen coming from a college athlete.
Now, if this was a younger Dikembe Mutombo making this mistake, I would be a bit more understanding.
