After today’s match against Holland, Felipe Melo better stay far away from Brazil. It’s a sad thing to say, but I’m serious.
Don’t just take it from me, take it from someone who knows a little more about these things: Cristiano Ronaldo.
On Ronaldo’s Twitter page, he states “Felipe mello nao deve passar as ferias no brasil…” which translates roughly to “Felipe Mello should not spend the holidays in Brazil …”

Melo crushed the hearts of an entire country. Not just with bad play, but with a bad temper. His lack of control forced his teammates to play a man down. He lost his man to give up the game winning goal. He even scored one for the Dutch.
He started off the match in great shape. It was his beautiful pass to Robinho that led to Brazil’s first goal. Coming of an injury that kept him out of the last game, he was a national hero just minutes before his meltdown.
To go from hero to wanted so quickly would do anything to crush a man’s soul. He had to have been thinking of the ghost of Andres Escobar while on the field. American athletes know nothing of this kind of pressure.
Late in the game after he was called for a foul, he finished off the play by stomping on his opponent. He was promptly red carded and finally put out of his misery.
You have to watch the video below of this Brazilian kid who is absolutely devastated.
That’s probably going on all over the country. No way is this kid an anomaly.
I just remembered, I didn’t show you the stomp.
Of course, he had to face the media, explaining his expulsion, saying that he should not have been ejected from the game. That YouTube video would be a lot more interesting if I could speak Portuguese. He looks pretty calm for a guy who just blew the most important event in his country in the last 4 years.
I would not want to be this guy.

That is not Cristiano Ronaldo, that is Ronaldo Luís Nazário de Lima from Brazil. Look at his face… he was the one that made that comment, not the pretty boy. Yikes!
I feel terrible for the entire Brazil team. I understand the expectation and passion for winning, but give the guy a break.
