Error: Some Xbox 360 Features Are Missing Or Corrupt [Playing DVDs]

OK so I have looked all over the internet for a solution and couldn’t find anything really all that helpful. And I don’t know if it happens to you guys much, but if it does I think I have figured out what that error means.

If my fix doesn’t help you, sorry. But it worked for me and since these video game forums require you to create an account to share tips, it was honestly easier for me to just put it on my own blog.

Anyway, I try to play a DVD on my 4GB Xbox 360 and sometimes I get the error: “Some xbox 360 features are missing or corrupt.” etc etc etc… Then it says it needs to download something. It reboots and when you tell it to Play DVD it does it again. Over and over.

The first time I got this problem I cleaned the disc and it eventually worked. Not exactly the answer I was hoping for.

Well it happened again today and the disc was brand new, so it couldn’t have been a dirtiness issue. I cleaned it anyway and it did not fix the problem.

Then I looked at my hard drive contents and noticed that the HD had only 188MB of free space. Not a whole lot. So I deleted the demo I downloaded and that cleared up 1.3GB of hard drive space.

I went back to the main menu and hit Play DVD. Wouldn’t you know it started right up.

Some other people have recommended clearing your cache, which I did not do. Hopefully it was just a disc space problem.

It’s kind of weird that the Xbox gives such a weird (and entirely unhelpful) error message, but what else would I expect out of Microsoft?

I just went through over 2 hours of troubleshooting and they wanted me to pay $119 to send it back for repair.

Glad I found this article. deleted all the xtra content from COD MW3 and cleared the cache and I’m up and running

So it happened to me again. I deleted enough to get to 1.4 GB and it worked again. Last time 1.4 GB was the magic number too. I guess I found it.

I have 214GB free on my HD. I cleared the cache and it still hasn’t resolved the issue. I keep getting the update message and keep getting the error message.
