Dez Bryant Does Not Believe in Rookie Hazing

So we are only in the first week of training camp – most rookies are just now starting to get signed – and already my dislike for Dez Bryant is in full swing. Not only is he a member of “America’s Team”,which already gives him a slight disadvantage for being like-able, but now he is taking his self-entitlement of being the next Randy Moss to even higher levels then Randy.

When Bryant was asked to carry the shoulder pads of veteran reciever Roy Williams, Bryant took a stance that most rookies would not even think of. Unless, of course, they are egotistical assholes like it appears Bryant is ultimately becoming.

“I’m not doing it,” Bryant said. “I feel like I was drafted to play football, not carry another player’s pads.”

Bryant, who is probably going to take the starting job away from Roy Williams, is obviously not aware of the protocol when it comes to being a rookie. Hazing is definitely a part of the team building process that teams at any age group have to go through. Just because now you are getting paid a ridiculous amount of money, doesn’t mean that you deserve any type of preferential treatment. And Roy Williams knows this as much as anyone.

“Everybody has to go through it,” Williams said. “I had to go through it. No matter if you’re a No. 1 pick or the 7,000th pick, you’ve still got to do something when you’re a rookie. “I carried pads. I paid for dinners. I paid for lunches. I did everything I was supposed to do, because I didn’t want to be that guy.”

In Williams’ defense, he has never wanted to be “that” guy on the field either. He is about a big of a disappointment as it gets when it comes to high draft picks, but the fact that Byrant feels that he doesn’t have to carry a veteran’s should pads, clearly shows that he already is becoming a full of himself prima donna.

And even though he might have talent that matches Randy Moss, he better learn the way Randy learned, or else he will find himself being the next T.O.
