Denard Span Drills His Mom With A Foul Ball During Game

Minnesota Twins leadoff man Denard Span hit a hard line drive foul ball that struck his mother in the chest.  Span immediately sprinted to the stands and stayed with his mom for a few minutes while she was treated.

Of all the people in the stands to smack with a foul ball!  C’mon Denard, what did moms ever do to you?

Obviously, I’m kidding.  He said after the game he was not mentally in it.  He returned back to the batter’s box after a 5-10 minute delay and took a called third strike.

Span’s mother, Wanda Wilson, returned to her seat, complaining simply of mild soreness.  They both got lucky there.
