Chievo Coach Domenico Di Carlo Calls God A Pig, Gets Suspended

Chievo Coach Domenico Di Carlo Calls God A Pig, Gets SuspendedThe Italian soccer league, Serie A, has a new zero tolerance policy.

These days, when I hear “no tolerance” I think about performance enhancement drugs, or maybe alcohol or physical violence. That’s not what Serie A is thinking.

As if soccer was not lame enough, it has been determined that players will be punished for blasphemy.

That’s right, if you insult God be prepared to face the consequences.

Last week, three minutes into the game, Chievo coach Domenico Di Carlo was caught on camera saying “porco dio,” which translates to calling God a pig.

I could think of much worse things to say in the heat of competition than “god, you are a pig,” but apparently this was enough to get Di Carlo a one game suspension.

This just goes to show how much more seriously religion is taken overseas. You can stand there and call a player a mother fucker, but, any reference to God in a vulgar manner gets you sent to the showers and sitting in street clothes next game.

This system is, of course, not full-proof. In the same game a player was seen mouthing “dio” while walking off the field after a red card, but was later determined he was cursing someone named “Diaz.”

Peyton Manning better hope Roger Goodell does not catch wind of this policy, or he will be spending a couple games on the pine.

Nobody expects the Italian Soccer Inquisition!

Who’s to say that God isn’t a pig? Have you met him in person?
