Is Joe Paterno dead or not? The media’s handling of Joe Paterno’s “death” has been sloppy at best. I’m being nice. In actuality it’s completely f**ked up.

First you read everywhere that JoePa is dead. But now, if you Google “Joe Paterno dead” you get redirects to the subsequent family spokesperson’s refutal of the report.

C’mon guys. Either he’s dead or he isn’t. The report of someone’s death is serious business and shouldn’t be taken lightly. Let alone some as legendary as Paterno. This is just another example of the degradation of the standards of mainstream media.

If he isn’t dead, multiple people should get fired for this. If he is, well, I hope he was able to get all of his last words out.

And I am not surprised one bit.

The only thing that could be worse than taking over for one of the most cherished coaches in sports history, would be to take over for one of the most cherished coaches in sports history after he was fired for a scandal involving child molestation. It’s a situation that is not only extremely difficult to overcome, but also one that is not worth taking the risk.

And while I do believe that Penn State will always have a large fan base, what happens when you cant land any star recruits that live outside if Pennsylvania? What happens when Penn State has 5 straight losing seasons? What happens when Linebacker U becomes a place that good linebackers use to go?

It’s a scenario that I cannot see shaping up any other way. Not only do I not see how they will be able to recruit, but how will they get a coach that is desperate enough to take over this mess?

It’s a job that would only interest me if I was either a s**tty coach that knows it will be the best job I could get, or if I were about to retire and it would be my last hoorah. Either way, I would obviously not be someone who you should start a rebuilding process with. You would probably be better off with one of these guys.

Joe Paterno is an irreplaceable figure in Penn State history. But the acts of Jerry Sandusky have turned this once great University into a job no one will want.

Until the next University falls apart that is…

-I want to see Alabama and LSU to play the most BORING game in the history of the BCS, forcing that sham of a system to crumble.  This one shouldn’t be a stretch…

-I want poor Chris Paul to find a home.  Though I believe he is SUPREMELY overrated, being jerked around the way that he is doesn’t seem fair.  “Hey Chris, you’re a Laker… just kidding, you’re a Hornet…  I mean you’re a Clipper… err… still a Hornet… oh and a Clipper again.”  What a joke.

-I’d like to see the Cleveland Browns training staff explain why they felt that quarterback Colt McCoy didn’t need a full concussion test after this hit.  I needed a concussion test from just watching Colt get crushed by that criminal.

-Speaking of criminals… I’d love to see these animals prosecuted.  This thuggery has absolutely no place in college sports.  Think their scholarships will be suspended?  They should be.

-I’d like to see Peyton Manning get healthy.  I’m not used to watching the Colts play this bad.

-I want to sit down with the NBA owners and let them know that they are doing it wrong.  Locking out the players because you’re losing money, and then turning around and handing Kwame Brown $8 million this year is a travesty.  How did you peabrains become billionaires?

-I would love to see Albert Pujols flounder with the Angels.  I don’t care that you didn’t hold an obnoxious press conference with Jim Grey, when you leave a city that loves you for a city that couldn’t care less about their sports franchise, you become Baseball Lebron.  You rat.

-I’d like Michael Phelps to lay off the hippie-lettuce.  2012 Summer Olympics are right around the corner…  USA!  USA!  USA!

-I would like to see Buster Posey, Stephen Strausburg, and Adam Wainwright bounce back next season.  These three are solid young stars that make the game more fun to watch.  And don’t cheat.  I’m looking at you, Ryan Braun.

-I’d like to see the Packers go 16-0 and win the Super Bowl.  Mainly because I am a minority owner in the franchise.  Go Pack Go!

-I don’t even want Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather to fight anymore.  Who cares?  Losers.

-I’d like to see some justice for these creeps that are accused of molesting children.  Seriously… what is wrong with these freaks?  Maximum sentences all around.

-I don’t want Andrew Luck to be as good as advertised.  I want him to be better.

-I want the Miami Heat to suck.  Like… REALLY bad.

-I want Ndomukong Suh and James Harrison to fight in a steel cage match.  Loser leaves the NFL forever.  Winner gets staph infection.

-I never want Tim Tebow to leave the spotlight.  I know he is a total cheese dick.  I know he doesn’t have the throwing mechanics that Mel Kiper jerks off to.  I know he rubs some people the wrong way…  but he is the best.  He is television gold, and he is fun to watch.  If you don’t root for Tim Tebow, you don’t root for America.  Stop being a communist.

So with the season basically being over, it was nice to see a change of SEC pace with Robert Griffin III winning the Heisman. Not sure I was surprised, but it was exciting to see someone from Baylor get the award. And I think what he said in his speech was perfect.

“This is unbelievably believable.”

The unbelievable part is the fact that someone from the usual lowly Baylor is winning the Heisman. I understand they are in the Big 12, but they are comparatively the Vanderbilt of the SEC. No one really expects them to do anything. In fact, most people forget they even exist.

Not since Ty Detmer won the award at BYU in 1990, has a player from a non-powerhouse school taken home the most prestigious individual trophy in sports. The list consists of schools such as Oklahoma, USC, Florida…not Baylor.

But what makes it believable, isn’t the “hard work” on the field that he describes. It’s the way RGIII was almost able to manipulate the media and obviously Heisman voters to thinking he deserved the trophy. And I’m not saying he doesn’t deserve it, but the moment he made the comment after the Baylor-Texas game saying he thought Baylor just won their first Heisman, I knew he was going to win.

It was just too fitting for it not to happen.

Regardless, RGIII has changed the culture in and around Baylor University. The Heisman does not necessarily mean you will be successful in the NFL, but the unbelievable achievements that he has put together this year will more than set his place in Baylor history.

Believe that.

It’s actually pretty simple – he isn’t a fat piece of s**t.

But you know who fits that mold perfectly? None other than former Notre Dame fats**t Charlie Weis who has been hired by Kansas to become the next head football coach, replacing Gill who was just 5-19 over two seasons.

Talk about a great fit. Weis will no doubt be successful at Kansas. Like the corn-fed-fatty coach before Gill, Mark Mangino, Weis will not only be a hit with the players, but the fans will be able to resort back to the days when it was ok to weigh 300 lbs. (Seriously, does everyone remember just how disgusting Mangino was?)

Ohio State fans always wore the sweater vest. Every fan at South Carolina owns a visor in honor of the ol’ ball coach. College football fans idolize their head coach if he is successful, and I do expect Weis to be able to make an impact with the fans rather quickly.

I just hope it doesn’t come at the expense of their health.

What else did we learn about the 2011-2012 Bowl Season?

-The Famous Idaho Potato Bowl will feature the red-hot Utah State Aggies against the Bobcats of Ohio University.  Utah State running back Robert Turbin runs hard for the Aggies but the OU defense will prove to be too much.  Bobcats shuffle past and Athens party-rocks in celebration.

-The Poinsettia Bowl features BCS darlings TCU against WAC champion Louisiana Tech.  No Andy Dalton, no problem.  Horned Frogs terrorize in this one.

-In the MAACO Las Vegas Bowl, Boise State who was ranked #7 in the BCS standings, rolled the SEC runner up, and has one of the best college football quarterbacks of all time got snubbed and sent to Sin City to face Arizona State.  Barring a monumental let down, the Broncos should skate past the Sun Devils.

-Notre Dame will face Florida State in the Champs Sports Bowl.  Don’t expect a ton of scoring in this one, as the Seminole’s defense is extremely stingy while the Irish stink.  I don’t care who wins, but bet the under.

-The only reason to watch the Alamo Bowl is to watch RG3’s draft stock soar as he faces the Washington Husky defense.  Blowout eminent.

-The Insight Bowl and Meineke Car Care of Texas Bowl both pit potential first round quarterbacks against Big 10 defenses as Landry Jones faces Iowa and Ryan Tannehill takes on Northwestern.  The Big 10 received 10 Bowl bids this year…  not too shabby for the Legends and Leaders.

-It will be interesting to watch the Cornhusker backfield of Taylor Martinez and Rex Burkehead take on the South Carolina defense.  Also, it will be interesting to see what Alshon Jeffery weighs in at after the holidays.  Oink oink oink…

-The Urban Meyer bowl… err… Gator Bowl brings together Florida and Ohio State in Jacksonville.  Have the Buckeyes learned to deal with that SEC speed?

-The Rose Bowl should be exciting to watch as Oregon and Wisconsin butt heads in Pasadena.  Monte Ball has a nose for the end zone, but the Ducks are fast.  Real fast.  Get your popcorn ready, because this one will be good.

-The Fiesta Bowl will showcase media darling Andrew Luck of Stanford against the high powered offense of Oklahoma State.  The Cowboys were an overtime field goal against Iowa State away from getting a shot at LSU, but will settle for Glendale.  What a let down.  Another good one here.  Expect lots of points and a pair of top 5 NFL draft selections with Justin Blackmon wowing the masses.

-The Sugar Bowl has the Wolverines of Michigan and the Virginia Tech Hokies getting together in the Big Easy.  A little surprised at both of these at large bids, but both teams travel well and will put butts in the seats.  Sorry Boise State.

-Clemson and West Virginia will square off in the Orange bowl as Zzzzz…….

-The greatest rivalry in sports was renewed this weekend as Ohio State took the field in Ann Arbor to face the Michigan Wolverines.  Denard Robinson was magical, combining for 337 yards and 5 touchdowns as the Wolverines got the sweater-vest-less monkey off their back and won 40-34.  Hail to the victors, enjoy it while you can because as we learned earlier this week, Urban is coming to Columbus and things are about to go back to normal.

-Superman wears Tim Tebow pajamas.  Tebow lead his Broncos to a division win over the San Diego Chargers 16-13 at Qualcomm Stadium.  It wasn’t pretty, but a win is a win and Tebow certainly knows how to get it done.

-Alabama boat raced Auburn 42-14, as Tide running back Trent Richardson carried the load to the tune of 27 carries for 203 yards.  Though the Alabama defense proved once again that they are the cream of the crop, without even appearing in their conference title game, should they be considered for the national title game?  Not in my eyes.

-On Thursday, the biggest turkey around was Lions defensive tackle Ndomukong Suh.  There is a fine line between being a tough and aggressive player, and being a scummy dirt bag.  Suh curb stomped that line as Green Bay prevailed 27-15 over Detroit.

-Stanford hosted Notre Dame in prime time Saturday night, and Andrew Luck impressed.  Luck tossed four scores as the Irish fell to the Cardinal 28-14.

-Remember all those Chicago Bear fans that ridiculed Jay Cutler for being a sissy, claiming the Bears would be better without him?  Caleb Hanie thinks you’re all idiots.  With Jay Cutler, the Bears were the hottest team in the NFL.  Without him, they lost to the Raiders and have those same fans praying for a playoff spot.  Though the defense kept them in the game, Hanie’s three interceptions were too much to overcome as the Raiders squeaked by 25-20.

-Baylor scored 66 points against Texas Tech.  In football, not basketball like I had originally thought when I saw the score.  Is anyone’s NFL stock hotter than RG3 right now?

-Stevie Johnson dominated the New York Jets secondary all afternoon, until he dropped a potential game winner as time wound down.  The Jets squeaked by 28-24, as Sanchez and his boys continued to look subpar.

-USC embarrassed the UCLA Bruins 50-0 at the Coliseum Saturday night.  To answer my previous question… yes, Matt Barkley’s NFL draft stock may be hotter than RG3.  Barkley threw for 423 and 6 touchdowns in the drubbing. 

-Tom Brady is pretty good.  So are the Patriots.  Vince Young isn’t terrible.  The Philadelphia Eagles are.  New England beat the Eagles 38-20 in Philly, as Brady and Vince Young combined for 761 yards through the air.  “Fire Andy Reid” chants echoed through Lincoln Financial Field in the fourth quarter.  Maybe the fans mistook Reid for Santa….Cretins.

-The Georgia Bulldogs beat the Yellow Jackets of Georgia Tech to secure a spot in the SEC Championship game.  As a reminder, Georgia is one win away from being crowned the BEST TEAM in the SEC, and lost to Boise State by 2 touchdowns earlier this year, yet pundits are calling for an all SEC title game.  Morons.  End this sham.

That is, until now.

Former Florida head coach, Urban Meyer, has officially accepted the same position at Ohio State replacing interim coach Luke Fickell.

Rumors have been circulating around Columbus for months, and most of us assumed this hiring was inevitable. He’s an Ohio guy, it is his dream job, and there was just way too much smoke for there not to be any fire.

But now that the hiring is official, Buckeye fans can finally stop jerking off about this possible scenario, and really start setting their expectations for the upcoming seasons. Expectations that I’m sure even Urban Meyer will have a difficult time reaching.

Think about it. While this may be a perfect fit, are Buckeye fans really gonna give Meyer any time before he has to start winning? If you can win a BCS game with Utah, you won’t get much grace period when it comes to turning this 6-6 team into a championship contender once again.

But will one championship in Columbus even be enough? Tressel only won one and it turned him into a God, but Urban owes Ohio State one. Trust me, regardless of how much Ohio State fans LOVE winning, they don’t forget about their losses. And that 41-14 loss to Florida in the National Championship will never be forgotten. So not only does Urban need to win that one back for the Buckeyes, but he needs to at least win two in order for Ohio State fans to really forgive.

Maybe it’s not fair, but it isn’t like Meyer doesn’t know what he is getting himself into. But with these expectations, if you win, the perks are God like.

And assuming the rumors of Meyer being announced as head coach during the Duke-Ohio State basketball game on Tuesday are true, he will get his first taste of how much OSU fans will immediately take to his liking.

He just better get to work starting Wednesday.

You and the NCAA have made it a habit of sending letters to various institutions around the country citing lack of institutional control for wrongdoings that have been committed. I commend you for having the valor to seek what is right, and hope that you understand that this letter is a result of that same chivalry.

It has come to our attention that your BCS system is a complete debauchery, laced with corruption and greed. The recount of these despicable events is deeply troubling, and if true, individuals who were in a position to monitor and act upon learning of potential abuses appear to have been acting starkly contrary to the values of higher education, as well as the NCAA.

I am writing to notify you that JOCKpost.com will examine the NCAA’s exercise of institutional control over it’s BCS system, as well as the actions and intentions of relevant responsible personnel.

As you undoubtedly are aware, the NCAA Constitution contains principles regarding institutional control and responsibility, as well as ethical conduct. Specifically, under Article 2.1, “it is the responsibility or each member institution (including the NCAA as a whole) to control its program in compliance with rules and regulations of the Association. The president (that’s you) is responsible for the administration or ALL aspects of the program.”

Lastly, it is important to bring to your attention that Bylaw 10.01.2 affirmatively states that “individuals employed by or associated with member institutions are teachers of young people. Their responsibility is an affirmative one, and they must do more than avoid improper conduct or questionable acts. Those who exhibit this behavior are meeting the ethical expectations of the NCAA membership. Those who do not, fail us all.

With this as a backdrop, the NCAA should provide relevant information and data in response to the following questions:

1.) Why is football the ONLY sport out of 89 sanctioned by the NCAA that does not determine its champion through a playoff or tournament?

2.) USC has the same record as Oregon, play in the same conference, and also beat them heads up… but currently sit behind them in the BCS rankings. Please explain.

3.) In an economy that has been floundering, why do the salaries of BCS Bowl CEO’s continually climb? Why has the salary of the Fiesta Bowl CEO more than tripled over the past decade, yet the payout to teams not matched that increase?

4.) Could that difference contribute to the staggering number of teams that lost MILLIONS of dollars when invited to play in a BCS game?

5.) Where does all the excess money go?

6.) Would you consider one of your own spending over $1200 on one strip club visit using Fiesta Bowl money as the NCAA having a “lack of institutional control”?

7.) Fiesta Bowl monies pay $44,000 a year for it’s CEO’s multiple golf club memberships. How many of your other BCS Bowl game CEO’s share the same luxury? Do you feel this is “ethical”?

8.) As the president of the NCAA, do you feel responsible for letting this all happen under your watch? Isn’t it time to do away with this sham?

The behaviors and failures highlighted above try not only the integrity of the universities, but that of intercollegiate athletics as a whole. It is essential that the NCAA respond to the questions that I have posed so that any failures in management of bowl games – both real and perceived – can be rectified.

I look forward to the complete cooperation of the NCAA in our review and any future action that we may take.

But by the way Penn State fans gathered outside Paterno’s home this evening, it would appear their mind is made up on how they feel about their coach.

But for me, I’m just not sure. This whole things just reeks of something awful, and the optimist in me hopes that Joe Pa was in no way involved (more than what we already know anyway).

Regardless of how I feel, Penn Staters 0bviously still support him. But should they?

That game sucked. Sure, there was some great defense played. But there was some “take-my-eyes” bad offense played too.

I’m not sure what’s more unbelievable – that both of these programs don’t give a s**t about quarterback play, or that they both are incapable of finding one to come to school there.

There were probably 25 NFL players on the field-and none on offense. These two teams were even outscored by the Blue Jackets hockey game that night. The offense was pitiful – just ask this guy…

 Like the saying goes – in college football, the regular season IS the playoffs, and the Tide had their shot, at home, and blew it. NEXT!

And it has nothing to do with sports.

Sandusky is (allegedly) a child raping pervert who not only raped children, he raped helpless little boys who had come to his program, The Second Mile, seeking help. This psychopath actually formed the foundation to help “at risk” kids and then used it to feed his twisted desire to have sex with pre-teen boys. We are talking about the worst kind of person to ever walk the planet.

This is the kind of man who proves that the United States’ policy of no “cruel and unusual punishment” is far too lenient. This psychopath should be pinned to a wall and sliced with Exacto Blades while being sprayed with vinegar, broadcast live for free on TV & online. Then nursed back to health so it can be done again. And again. And again.

Sandusky is only 67, so I estimate he could be tortured for at least 20 years. And that still wouldn’t be enough to make up for what he has done. Just ask any of the 8 victims detailed in a 40 count indictment against him. However it may discourage other potential or current molesters and rapists from following Sandusky’s sick path. Humans respond to incentives, both positive and negative, and strict (and sometimes painful) punishments are the only way to truly reduce and eliminate crime. Especially this kind of crime where the helpless victims are manipulated and raped.

“This is a case about a sexual predator who used his position within the university and community to repeatedly prey on young boys,” state Attorney General Linda Kelly said Saturday.

Not only should Sandusky go down in flames, but everyone involved in this scandal should fry. Numerous grown men including legendary head football Coach Joe Paterno, Athletic Director Tim Curley and Vice President for Finance & Business Gary Schultz seemingly turned their backs when informed that Sandusky was raping and molesting helpless little boys. Worse off, they conspired to cover up the crimes by not reporting them to the authorities. How in the hell can they sleep at night? 

This is one of the saddest, most shocking and most disgusting stories to ever rock the sports world. And it is going to forever tarnish the reputation of the winningest coach in NCAA Division I history. I don’t see how Paterno walks away from this. If it doesn’t get him fired (or force his resignation) it very well may kill him. A graduate student who was nearly 30 years old had personally informed Paterno that Sandusky was showering with and raping a little boy, and Paterno thought he did his duty by informing the Athletic Director, Tim Curley.

How can you sleep at night, Joe? You inform Curley and then go back to thinking about football? It’s not like some bonehead made these accusations… a respectable grown man personally informed you about a first hand witnessing of Sandusky’s wrath, and you didn’t have the brains to question why Sandusky wasn’t in any trouble after you reported it to the Athletic Director? Your hands are dirty and you should be ashamed of yourself. In a statement released by his son Scott, Paterno said “If this is true we were all fooled, along with scores of professionals trained in such things, and we grieve for the victims and their families. They are in our prayers.”

Prayers?! Does that help you sleep at night, Joe? Praying isn’t going to do a thing. You know what would have? Reporting the raping psychopath to the authorities like any decent human being with a sliver of common sense would have. Instead you stayed idle, allowing numerous other innocent boys to fall victim to Sandusky’s sick desires.

Curley and Schultz are just as guilty as Paterno, if not more. Both have since stepped down from their posts at Penn State and both are surely in a hell of a lot of trouble as details continue to emerge.

When the graduate student (and his father) reported seeing Sandusky sexually assault a naked boy, Curley and Schultz met with him but did nothing else to follow up with his accusations.

“Despite a powerful eyewitness statement about the sexual assault of a child, this incident was not reported to any law enforcement or child protective agency, as required by Pennsylvania law,”  state Attorney General Linda Kelly said.

Curley, obviously not a smart man, is now claiming that the student didn’t report sexual assault, however Curley admits that he barred Sandusky from bringing children onto campus after the report. Why ban Sandusky from anything if the student didn’t report something bad? That’s like saying, “I don’t care if you rape little boys, just don’t do it on campus.” Furthermore, Curley admits to informing university President Graham Spanier of the situation.

Spanier may be the only person who comes off more evil than Paterno, Curley and Schultz, as he has since been quoted as saying “I have known and worked daily with Tim (Curley) and Gary (Schultz) for more than 16 years. I have complete confidence in how they handled the allegations about a former university employee.”

University representatives released a statement from Spanier on Saturday calling the allegations against Sandusky “troubling” and adding that Curley and Schultz had his unconditional support.

Spanier predicted that Curley and Schultz will be exonerated.

Exonerated?! Are you kidding me? It’s almost as if Spanier also likes raping kids the way he is so nonchalantly defending the men who covered up Sandusky’s hideous crimes. It’s no surprise that Penn State called an emergency meeting of the board of trustees on Sunday after Spanier’s idiotic comments. Spanier’s hands certainly aren’t clean and hopefully the authorities are able to prove that he is as guilty as Curley & Schultz.

Sure, it’s not #1 11-0 Ohio State vs #2 11-0 Michigan, but it’s still a huge game where the winner might as well book their ticket to the BCS National Championship game. After all, no team from the SEC East is going to contend with the winner of this game. Heck, no team from the SEC East should even be on the same field as ‘Bama or LSU.

That said, both of these teams are overrated. Yeah, I said it.

Despite their plethora of future NFL talent, neither team has had the chance to consistently prove how good they are. Beating up a bunch of weaklings that you are supposed to crush doesn’t make you a great team, it just makes you a team that wins the games its supposed to win. Yet despite their lack of quality wins, the national media cannot get enough of these teams. The media is quick to crown them as the “best college football teams ever.”

Look at it this way: LSU has just 1 quality win all year, over a solid Oregon team that very well may beat Stanford in 2 weeks and go on to win the Pac-12. The rest of LSU’s wins are over bad teams who were either unranked or over-ranked when LSU played them (ex: their win over #17 Florida was a joke—Florida isn’t even ranked anymore!) Wins over Northwestern State (this is a real school?), Kentucky and Tennessee (all unranked) do little to prove how good LSU really is. And their win over then #16 West Virginia looked like a quality win until WVU showed their true colors by getting blown out by Syracuse.

Alabama’s schedule is eerily similar, save one more quality win. They beat a solid Penn State team on the road and a very good Arkansas team at home. Arkansas is the only spoiler left as they play LSU in the season finale, but that game is in Baton Rouge and I highly doubt LSU will lose at home if the SEC Title Game (aka ticket to the BCS Championship game) is on the line. However ‘Bama’s wins over “Can’t read, Can’t write, Kent State”, North Texas (what?!), Vandy, Ole Miss and Tennessee do nothing other than prove ‘Bama can beat up teams who might as well be in Division 2.

LSU and Alabama are very good, and they are most likely the best 2 teams in the NCAA. However at no fault of their own they don’t get the chance to prove their dominance week in and week out. How could we change this? A Super Conference is one place to start! While this author has Florida in over LSU, you get the point. Put the best teams up against each other every week and we will truly see them showcase their talents and emerge as elite teams should.

Until then, we’ll have to be satisfied with this Saturday’s clash of titans in what is assured to be a great game. LSU’s current coach Les Miles vs their former coach Nick Saban in a #1 vs #2 matchup is the kind of story line that you can’t make up. And one thing is certain: there will be no excuses after this game- these teams will be battling to the final seconds and leaving it all out on the field.

-Russell Wilson may be the “sexy” name to toss around when talking about Big 10 quarterbacks, but Kirk Cousins proved once again that he is the cream of the crop signal caller in the conference.  Cousins threw for 290 and three scores, including a hail mary to Keith Nichol as time expired to seal the upset for Sparty 37-31.  Credit Wisconsin, as they scored twice in the final 8 minutes to tie the game after trailing 31-17.  Overall, one of the more exciting games in recent memory.

-Seth Doege and Alex Torres did their best Graham Harrell and Michael Crabtree impression connecting on three scores as Texas Tech snapped Oklahoma’s 39 game home win streak 41-38.  Landry Jones looked sharp, but ultimately couldn’t get his team the victory.

-With Justin Blackmon sidelined in the second half with a concussion, Oklahoma State turned into the Joseph Randle show.  Randle carried the ball just 14 times, but ran for 138 yards and three scores as the Cowboys toppled Missouri 45-24.  Brandon Weeden continued his Heisman push throwing for 338 and three scores.  Despite having the same numbers as Landry Jones, Weeden sits 6 spots behind him on most Heisman voter sheets.  The fact that Weeden doesn’t get more national attention is a crime.  I feel like I’ve heard someone say that before… 

-The number 1 team in the land looked to both Jordan Jefferson and Jarrett Lee at quarterback to lead them in a 45-10 drubbing of the Auburn Tigers.  The LSU defense looked fierce as they introduced starting quarterback Clint Moseley to Auburn’s line up for the first time in his career.  Tough way to start your first college game, kid.

-Clemson’s sensational Sophomore quarterback Tajh Boyd tied a Clemson school record with 5 touchdown passes as the Tigers beat North Carolina 59-38.  The Tigers move to 8-0 with a roster of young pup playmakers that listen to coach Dabo Sweeny, who is pushing all the right buttons.  Things are on the up-and-up in Clemson.

-Illinois stinks.  FireRonZook.com. 

-Alabama rolled Tennessee, but I’m not sure that Tide quarterback AJ McCaron gives this team what it needs to bring home a title.  Coach Nick Saban has the luxury of playing in the most overrated conference on the planet, but Trent Richardson and the Tide’s phenomenal defense can only get you so far.

-Boise State downed Air Force while Kellen Moore tied Colt McCoy as the winningest quarterback in college football history.  Ask Browns fans how that turns out down the road…

-Andrew Luck handed the ball off to a trio of hundred yard rushers (almost) as Stephan Taylor, Tyler Gaffney, and Anthony Wilkerson ran for a combined 348 yards in Stanford’s man-handling of Washington.   Luck,the Heisman hopeful, was sharp early tossing a pair of first half touchdown passes before the game got out of hand.

-Arkansas fell behind Ole Miss 17-7 at halftime to storm back and knock off the Rebels 29-24 in Oxford, Mississippi.  This is the best the SEC has to offer?  Yawn…

-Oregon beat Colorado 45-2.  That score made me laugh.

-How ironic that those crazy Catholics at Notre Dame are monumentally disappointed by the lackluster performance of an outcast with the last name “Christ”.  Irish starting quarterback Tommy Rees twisted his knee and needed to exit the game in the 3rd quarter, which meant infamous pariah Dane Christ went under center again, after being replaced as the starter earlier this year.  Christ looked sharp, but eventually fumbled the snap in the Notre Dame red zone and watched USC defender Jawanza Starling scamper 80 yards for the score, icing a 31-17 victory for the Trojans.  Terrible, Irish.

But all this talk is misleading.

For starters, the only thing that would be made “super” by adding Texas A&M to it would be an Earth-raping party, and I think those only happen in Texas, so they should just stay at home.  

Then there is Syracuse and Pitt to the ACC. The Syracuse football program is kryptonite to anyone pretending to be an elite football collective. And if Pitt EVER wants any kind of fan support, they need to change their colors.

But hey, they are creeping on that magic number of 16!! SUPERCONFERENCE WOOOOO!!!  WOOOOOO, SUPERCONFERENCE!!!!

 There are even suggestions that the independent-2 days-longer-than-forever University of Notre Dame should join the ACC, lest their exposure become eroded on the East Coast.

Here’s a better idea for the Golden Domers. Get on the phone with some of the presidents of a certain 11 other select institutions of higher learning, and pitch an idea of your own. Well, of my own. Don’t follow this poser crowd of sheep.  

The schools the Irish should contact –    Ohio State,  Michigan,  Texas ,  Nebraska , Oklahoma , Miami, (Fl.) , USC , Florida , Alabama , Florida State , and Penn State.

Notre Dame  should suggest to them that they join the independent crowd. And that they should call themselves the Independent Superconference. You only play your conference, every week, with 2 byes. This immediately eliminates the stupid BCS as well, because the conference IS the playoffs. And the winner can declare themselves the national champion, because they clearly will be, and tell the BCS to cram it up it’s cramhole. 

I’ve even gone through the trouble of creating a schedule for the first season (although it obviously needs some tweaking). Tell me the sight of THAT doesn’t make your dick twitch!!

This ought to get all of these sportswriter dickwads to stop throwing the word “superconference” around so lightly.

-Is two games too soon to call Cam Newton the real deal?  Coming into the season, the Carolina blue print was to hand the ball to DeAngelo Williams and have Cam throw 18-20 passes a game.  Two games in, Williams has 43 rushing yards while Cecil’s boy has thrown for over 850 yards.  Though winless thus far, the Panthers have to like their selection of Mr. Newton.

-Jacory Harris did everything he could to cough up a win against the Ohio State Buckeyes.  Luckily for Hurricane fans, Harris who finished the day with a pair of interceptions, and some of the worst decision making I’ve ever seen from a senior quarterback, was still the best signal caller on the field Saturday night.  To put it politely, Joe Bauserman and Braxton Miller were awful and that was the difference as the ‘Canes bull-rushed their way to a 24-6 drubbing of the Buckeyes.  Luke Fickle looked lost, scared, and indecisive throughout and just coached himself out of a job moving forward.  Very poor showing for Ohio State.

-Everything about Tom Brady is fantastic.  Brady was near flawless in the Patriots 35-21 win over the Chargers throwing for 423 yards and 3 scores. 

-LSU’s defense has always been touted as one of the best in the country, and it was proven to be true over the weekend against Mississippi State.  The Tiger’s smothered the Bulldogs from the start en route to a 19-6 victory.  If Jarrett Lee can continue to play within himself, we could be looking at a national championship contender.

-There were five lead changes in the 4th quarter at Ralph Wilson Stadium on Sunday as the Bills held off the Raiders.  Ryan Fitzpatrick (did you know he went to Harvard?) managed the game well while Fred Jackson erupted for 140 total yards and a pair of touchdowns.  Buffalo is 2-0. 

-Marcus Lattimore galloped for 246 yards and 3 scores as the Old Ball Coach and his Gamecocks squeaked out a win 24-21 over Navy.  Hello Heisman? 

-With all due respect to Andre Johnson, Calvin Johnson is the best wide receiver in the National Football League.  He is a man among boys, and proved it again as the Lions annihilated the hapless Chiefs 48-3.  Megatron caught only 3 balls, but two of them were for scores as this one was out of hand early.  Kansas City running back Jamaal Charles went down halfway through the first quarter with a reported torn ACL, ending his year and essentially ruining the Chiefs season.  And also ruining the season of the thousands of fantasy footballers that drafted him in the first round.  Including me.  God damn it…

-Florida and Tennessee went at it in a good old fashioned SEC slugfest.  The Gator’s Chris Rainey exploded for 233 total yards in their 33-23 victory over Rocky Top.

-The Georgia Dome really is Matt Ryan’s house, if only because he can stay healthy.  Ryan threw for four scores against Michael Vick and the Eagles Sunday night in the Falcon’s 35-31 win.  Atlanta also leaned heavily on running back Michael Turner who finished the day with over 100 yards and a score.  The Eagles offense looked lost in the fourth quarter as Michael Vick left the game with a concussion.  Who saw that coming?  Oh… right… everyone.

-Notre Dame got off the schnide with a win over Michigan State, keeping the Irish from falling into an 0-3 hole despite an overly sloppy game.  Brian Kelly’s boys were out gained, lost the time of possession battle, and turned the ball over more than Sparty, but walked away with the win none the less.  The power of prayer really is strong with those wacky Catholics.

-The Cleveland Browns ran through the Colts in Indianapolis Sunday behind the two touchdown performance of Madden Cover Boy Peyton Hillis.  It wasn’t pretty by any means, but Browns quarterback Colt McCoy was efficient and turnover free as he lead his team to their first win this season.

-Speaking of Colt McCoy, his younger brother Case took the reigns of the Longhorn offense as Texas traveled to UCLA to battle the Bruins.  The Longhorns rolled 49-20, and Case finished the game in McCoy like fashion completing 12-15 passes for 168 yards and 2 scores.  5 of those completions went to Case’s best friend and roommate Jaxon Shipley, the younger brother of Colt’s best friend and former roommate Jordan Shipley.  I can’t make this stuff up.  Everything is bigger in Texas.  And apparently much creepier also.

-The Dallas Cowboys needed overtime to beat the San Franciso 49ers transforming Tony Romo from goat to hero in one weeks time.  Romo cracked his rib, missed a few plays and then returned to lead the Cowboys to victory.  Say what you want about Tony Romo… the guy is tough.  And he’s not John Kitna.

-South Florida hung 70 on Florida A&M this weekend.  No big deal.

Michigan State +5 @ Notre Dame: Top 15 team getting 5 from an 0-2 team. Granted, the most talented 0-2 team in the country, and a rival. But 5 turnovers in a game for the Irish is a fluke. 10 in a 2 games is a trend.  Sparty! (I gagged a little writing that, but money is money)

Oklahoma @ Florida State +5: Boomer Schooner was my go-to all season long, and they might be again this year, just not this week. Bob Stoops career numbers on the road against ranked non-conference opponents are BAD, something like 5-10 ATS, and we all know how they love to choke in big games. Were this in Norman, I would be all over Oklahoma like a carpetbagger, but alas. A top-5 team getting points at home is too much for me. I ride with Chief Osceola.

Wisconsin -17 @ Northern Illinois -  Wisconsin should go by the name “Honey Badgers”, because their offense is f**king relentless. Montee Ball has scored 20 tds in his last 7 games. Add in NC State transfer Russell Wilson at QB, and an offense that only had 11 turnovers ALL OF LAST SEASON gets even more efficient. Book it.

A study done by the National College Player’s Association called, “The Price of Poverty In Big Time College Sport“, shows the estimated salaries that college players should be receiving. It also discusses how college players are basically living under the poverty level.

Below are the charts listing the top ten school’s salaries by sport (College Football and Basketball). Based on these results, the fact that players are getting two game suspensions for receiving $200.00 is hilarious. It also proves that I still have every reason to hate Duke.
