Sports make people do crazy things. Sports also make crazy people do really stupid things.

Rioting is almost a right of passage if your team wins it all. Smart or not, fans put in as much time and energy as these athletes do, and how they want to celebrate is their prerogative.

After seeing replays of the riot that ensued following Kentucky’s victory over Louisville, I decided to reminisce on all of the rioting that has happened over the years following certain sporting events.

We may as well start with UK video from last week. If you didn’t get to see it, here is one of many. There’s a reason the state of Kentucky doesn’t have any major sports teams. If a final four victory is a reason to act like a bunch of neanderthals that just discovered fire, I couldn’t imagine what they would do if their team won the Super Bowl or the World Series.

I’ve always considered Canadians a bunch of Nancys, that is until 2011 happened. Who will ever forget the riot that followed the Canuck’s loss to the Bruins in the Stanley Cup.

Something about defeating your rival to get to the championship game, must scream riot. This riot occurred following game 7 of the 2004 ALCS championship. Although, if there is a fan base that can have a pass for rioting, following a victory. I would have given it to the 2004 Boston Red Sox fans, after ending an 86 year “curse.”

Who could forget the riot that occurred after Joe Paterno was forced out as head coach this past year? I expect this behavior from foreign countries when a political leader is overthrown, but after a head football coach that protected a child molester? Come on Happy Valley, you’re better than that.

Finally, it wouldn’t be a quality riot montage without a soccer riot. This will probably go down as the most tragic incident, following a sporting event. 73 people were killed, and thousands were injured in Egypt after fans stormed the field (I refuse to call it a pitch) to celebrate Al-Masry’s defeat of Al-Ahly.

For any of you Chicago Cubs or Cleveland Browns fans, be sure and have your video cameras ready, and take the high ground if your team ever wins a championship. It will become Youtube gold.

My friend was supposed to write this post going the other way, about how the PAC 12 is actually underrated. But I’ve since destroyed him in a text-argument about how phuken wrong he is, and I want to share it with you.

This conference is The Worst Conference in the World. At least of the so-called major conferences. It’s even worse than a few of those pesky mind-majors. Google “conference RPI” and see what results come up with. You’ll find the PAC-12 ranked as the 10th best conference in the nation. It comes in behind such traditional powers as: the A-10, Conference USA, the Missouri Valley, and the Mountain West.

Sure the conference has 6 teams with 20+ wins. Because they got to each play 15 PAC-12 games. When they ventured into the real world, it was all oops pow surpise in their faces.

Here are the best non-conference games of the top 4 teams in the league. I only chose the top four because even that is pushing it. They will be lucky to get 2 of these disasters into the tournament. And by “best” I am using an arbitrary formula of my own that takes into account personal opinion and program history.

1st- Washington (21-10, 14-4)

@St Louis, @ Nevada, vs #11 Marquette, vs #5 Duke. ALL LOSSES. 0-4. In addition, they lost by 19 AT HOME to the South Dakota State Jackrabbits. Yes, the Jackrabbits are Dancing . Also, they are still South Dakota State.

This is your PAC-12 regular season champion, folks. And they just got bounced in the quarters of the conference tourney by the Oregon State Barack Obama Brothers-in-Law .

2nd- Cal (22-8, 13-5)

Vs #21 Mizzou, @ San Diego St, @ UNLV, vs Weber State. 1-3, with the only victory coming over future lottery pick Damian Lillard and Weber State.

3rd- Oregon (22-8, 13-5)

@#7 Vandy, vs BYU, vs UVA. OH-FER again!! They lost at home to the most universally-agreed upon soft sports school, Wahoo Wah Virginia.

4th Arizona (22-10, 12-6)

Vs Miss St, vs San Diego St, @ New Mexico St, @#12 Fla, vs Gonzaga. These are no pushover games, granted, but the only good win they had was against the New Mexico State Hang Time. 1-4.

The top 4 teams in the league went a combined 2-14 in their biggest non-conference games. The conference as a whole was 1-30 against the RPI Top 50, with the only victory coming courtesy of a Stanford “W” over Colorado State way the heck back in November.

To give you an idea of just how nauseating that stat is, Southern Mississippi has 3 Top 50 wins. Syracuse, Kansas, Kentucky, Carolina, Mich St, Michigan, Duke, and Ohio State EACH have 7+ Top 50 wins.

Washington is almost certainly going to receive an at-large bid, because, according to ESPN’s Joe Lunardi, no regular season conference champion from a Major 6 conference has missed the tournament in at least the last 9 years. This is a shame, because their (terrible) loss to Oregon State in the conference tournament opens the door for some even s**ttier team to steal the conference’s automatic bid.

I would much rather see some sneaky tourney-team like Xavier or BYU, or *fingers crossed* Long Beach State. There is probably no more battle tested team in the country than the Dirtbags 49ers. Casper Ware and crew are going to be a nasty out for anyone looking past them.

They count among their 22-8 season: a victory @#9 Pitt, a 4 pt loss in OT @ San Diego St, loss @#6 Louisville, 8 pt loss @ #13 Kansas, 6 pt loss @ #6 North Carolina, a win over #15 Xavier, a win over Auburn, and a loss vs K-State. If you combined TWO PAC-12 teams’ schedules, it wouldn’t look that good.

So I implore you to contact your local Selection Committee member , and ask them to do the right thing.

Which is keep PAC-12 basketball out of my precious tournament!

My friends and I often speak in hypotheticals. You know, the fun “could you get off the line if Darrelle Revis was covering you” type questions.

(In case you’re wondering, the answer is yes, because Revis is a punk bitch and I’m quicker than I look).

One scenario that comes up often compares NCAA teams to Professional teams, i.e. ‘The Browns are so bad I think Ohio State would beat them by 30.” (which is probably true most years).

Since there are no ways to definitively answer most of these hypothetical questions, we ask you, the reader, to weigh-in on what you think would happen in the following two scenarios where we match up the NFL and NBA’s best against the best the NCAA has to offer.

Football first, because everyone knows that football is better than pretty much everything else. Our matchup pits the mighty Alabama Crimson Tide, reigning NCAA Football Champs and perennial power-house, against the New York Football Giants, the Tom Brady-slaying machine and winners of two of the past 5 Super Bowls. I’d be surprised if a single level-headed person picked ‘Bama to win, and if you did, you can stop reading now (and you should probably go back on your meds.)

Everyone knows that the Giants will win the game – the question is, if they actually played, what would a realistic score look like?

Next is our basketball matchup where we put the Miami Heat up against the Kentucky Wildcats.

The Heat are the NBA’s most talked about team, and home to one of the most hated athletes on the planet, Lebron Jones James.

James, who happens to be one of the best players in the game, shares the stage with Chris Bosh, who ironically is one of the most over-hyped players in the game, and all-star Dwayne Wade, a former NBA scoring champion who is still as good as they come.

The Wildcats are insanely good, boasting a 27-1 record so far this year including 13-0 in the prestigious SEC Conference (oops, wrong sport.) Regardless, the ‘Cats are pretty damn good, coming off a Final 4 appearance in 2011 and set to make another one in 2012.

Everyone on the planet, save psychopathic scumbag John Calipari, knows the Heat would make quick work of the Wildcats, but the question remains, “what would the final score likely be?”

I think the matchups would go something like this:

First, the under-sized linemen on ‘Bama would get worked on both sides of the ball. Sure, they have plenty of eventual NFL players on the team, but not enough to overcome the plethora of studs the Giants would use to control the pace of the game at all times.

On offense, The G-men would easily move the ball up and down the field at will, scoring 3 TDs in each quarter on offense, 1 TD/half on defense, and settling for a last second FG after a ‘Bama turnover late in the first half.

Alabama would find it nearly impossible to guard all 3 of the Giants receivers (heck, the Patriots couldn’t even do this) and when Eli wasn’t busy picking apart the Tide’s vastly overmatched secondary, Brandon Jacobs and Ahmad Bradshaw would be splitting up about 300 total rushing yards averaging 8 yds per carry.

Bama is never a serious threat to score and Victor Cruz and his 4 TDs take home MVP honors in a 101-3 blowout. Nick Saban retires and retreats into a Syd Barret-like recluse state.

On the hardwood, after a 60 minute long, nationally televised introduction to the Miami Heat, Kentucky is finally allowed to step onto the court and play begins. Six minutes later, they regret the decision to participate in this experiment as the Heat lead 29-0. The crowd erupts when Kentucky finally scores its first field goal, 10 minutes into the game, now trailing 48-3.

Being as soft as he is, Lebron doesn’t start the second quarter of play and the Wildcats climb out of single digits but still can’t close the gap, trailing 98-11 at the half. Wade and James are both unstoppable, and surprisingly even Chris Bosh looks good playing against a bunch of college kids. By the end of the third quarter, the Heat have begun preparations for their post-game 60 minute nationally televised celebratory video in which they will highlight how Lebron “took his talents” to Kentucky.

They say that NBA athletes are the best on the planet, and the Heat show exactly why playing the game at a much faster pace than Kentucky can handle. However, the contest ends with a whimper, as most Miami fans didn’t even show up, and those who did only stayed for 2 quarters anyway.

Calapari tries to recruit Wade, complimenting him on his “baby face” and telling him that his lack of eligibility “won’t be a problem.” Wade says he’ll think it over. The Heat win by a score of 208-21 and proclaim themselves to be the best team in the history of the NBA.

So what’s worse? 208-21 in basketball or 101-3 in football? Think I’m way off? Post your thoughts, play-by-play, or just your final score predictions in the comments section below and send this to your friends to get their takes.

The nation has taken to Jeremy Lin like he’s the fourth Kardashian sister, and there are many reasons why. He plays in Madison Square Garden, the epicenter of the basketball universe. He is an Asian-American and looks so much different than the other players on the court. He went to Harvard; I bet he knows Ryan Fitzpatrick!

But the main reason America is swept up in LinSanity is because he is an underdog. You didn’t see him coming. Neither did I and there’s nothing this country loves more than a good underdog story!

Inspired by Jeremy Lin, here’s a list of my top 10 favorite underdogs of all time…

10 – Appalachian State. At the end of the 2006 season, Michigan Wolverine’s Jake Long, Mike Hart, and Chad Henne decided to come back to school for one more year. Their Wolverine squad was touted as favorites to win the Big 10, and contend for a national title. That pipe-dream lasted about 60 minutes, as FOUR touchdown underdog Appalachian State stunned Michigan 34-32 in potentially the biggest upset in college football history.

9 – Upset. This race horse may or may not have coined the common phrase after knocking off Man-O-War in Saratoga’s Stanford Memorial race in 1919. Man-O-War was undefeated in his lifetime, while Upset came to the starting gate as an-almost-unbelievable 100-1 underdog. Two things were certain after that race… Man-O-War was no longer undefeated, and anyone who bet on Upset left the track with a smile on their face.

8 – Rocky. Just LOOK at Ivan Drago and tell me you didn’t think ‘Rock was going to get pounded… But since movies don’t count on my list, I’ll stay in the ring and go with Buster Douglas. In the late ’80’s, Mike Tyson was bad. Not “crazy tattoo faced dude from the Hangover movies” bad… but legitimately “put this guy in prison because he could snap and kill someone” bad. America was glued to their television every pay per view to see how quickly “Iron Mike” was going to finish the fight. He was absolutely untouchable. Until he stepped in the ring with 42-1 underdog James “Buster” Douglas. On February 11, 1990, Buster Douglas knocked Mike Tyson out, changing the landscape of Tyson’s career (and boxing as a whole) forever.

7 - Earlier this week, we heard the very sad news of Gary Carter passing away from brain cancer. I was very young when “Kid” played, but the more I read about him the more I wish I would have seen him play. In honor of the fallen Met great, we will add the 1969 New York Mets to the list. The “Miracle Mets” had never finished better than 9th place (out of 10 teams) in their first seven years of existence, and never even sniffed a winning record. In 1969, things changed with Cy Young winner Tom Seaver winning 25 games, helping the Mets reach the playoffs and ultimately win their first World Series. The next time the Mets would reach the promise land? 1986, with the help of Gary Carter.

6 – David Tyree and the New York Giants. The ’72 Dolphins and Mercury Morris were worried. The New England Patriots were not only in their town and on their block … they were knocking on the door of an undefeated season. That was until they squared off with the New York Giants. Eli Manning connected with David Tyree on what I consider to be the greatest play in Super Bowl history as Peyton’s little brother lead a fourth quarter drive to spoil the Patriots unblemished season. Pop that champagne, Mercury. And make an ass out of yourself on SportsCenter while you’re at it…

5 - When Razor Ramone beat Shawn Michaels for the Intercontinental belt in a ladder match at Wrestlemania 10, I was shocked… but again, since we need to stick to actual sports I’ll include Rulon Gardner for the wrestling portion of this list. In the 2000 summer olympics, Russian heavyweight wrestler Alexander Karelin was known as “the unbeatable”. Karelin was undefeated in his THIRTEEN YEAR international wrestling career until he stepped on the mat with the roley poley Gardner. Gardner did the unthinkable as he outlasted Karelin, handing the Russian his first loss since he was a teenager.

4- 1985 Villanova Wildcats. On paper, Georgetown should have routed Rollie Massimino’s 8th seeded Wildcats in the NCAA championship game. But that’s why they play the game… The Wildcats were unconscious, shooting 90% in the second half to stun Patrick Ewing and the Hoyas 66-64. Think about that for a second… Villanova shot better than 75% from the field for the ENTIRE game and still only won by a bucket. That should tell you how good the Georgetown team really was.

3 – Fabricio Werdum. Fedor Emelianenko was the Michael Jordan of MMA, if Michael would have won a few more titles. Fedor dominated the heavyweight division like no other fighter in the history of the sport. Thought to be indestructible, Fedor was riding a ten year unbeaten streak when he stepped in the ring with Werdum, who many considered a tin can and enormous underdog. One minute into this fight, Werdum proved everyone wrong by tapping out Emelianenko.

2 – Joe Namath and the New York Jets. Coming into the game as 20 point underdogs, “Broadway Joe” guaranteed a victory before it was cool to guarantee a victory. Coming through on his promise, the Jets upset the Colts 16-7 at the Orange Bowl in Miami. Is there a better image than Joe Namath trotting off the field with one hand raised in victory? Well… maybe one.

1 - 1980 USA Men’s Hockey Team. You know the story… now enjoy a little American pride, courtesy of Mr. Al Michaels. USA! USA! USA!

Have someone you want to add to the list? Leave it in the comments below, or follow me on Twitter @JockPostDT to discuss!

I swore I would never play Angry Birds (beat it) - Siri has been asked every dirty question imaginable – and the HD quality porn is anything BUT distracting.

But what really has me going is this new Action Movie App. It’s fantastic…if you like blowing s**t up.

I took the video below during the Ohio State vs. Wisconsin Men’s bball last weekend (Yes, I had awful seats). And before people start giving me s**t for being a terrorist Ohio State hater, just trust me when I say I am not. I think it is funny. That is all.

So funny, in fact, that I would also like to share it with all of you.

And in return, if you also share a somewhat twisted sense of humor, please feel free to send me your best sports videos of destruction to pics@jockpost.com or hit us up on Facebook!

Anyone who reads my posts with any regularity knows by now that I bleed Scarlet and Gray. I’m an Ohio guy that has grown up loving the Buckeyes. Call me a douchebag, whatever, I’ll take the stereotype given by a few bad eggs.

But what you probably don’t know, is that I went to college at a small D1 school about an hour outside of Columbus, called Wright State, which is located just outside of Dayton. And these two teams just happen to meet tonight at the Schottenstein Center in Columbus for their college basketball season openers.

I will be at this game. I call it a game, although, I wouldn’t be surprised if the only time this game is close is at opening tip off.

And while I fully expect Ohio State to dominate this game, who should I really be rooting for?

My heart is 100% with the Buckeyes. I could honestly give two s**ts about Wright State sports. When you don’t have a football team, and your basketball team is mediocre in the Horizon League, there isn’t much pride to be had.

But if the game is tied at 70 with 5 seconds left on the clock, should I put aside my current hometown team emotions, and root for the underdog Alma Mater? This will be Wright State’s Super Bowl (assuming they don’t make the tourney), so knowing that Ohio State will have plenty of time to get their s**t back together, should I just turn my Buckeye shirt inside out and start howling at the moon? (I never understood why a Raider howls either, but whatever)

I’m stuck and I don’t know what to do…Go Bucks?

A study done by the National College Player’s Association called, “The Price of Poverty In Big Time College Sport“, shows the estimated salaries that college players should be receiving. It also discusses how college players are basically living under the poverty level.

Below are the charts listing the top ten school’s salaries by sport (College Football and Basketball). Based on these results, the fact that players are getting two game suspensions for receiving $200.00 is hilarious. It also proves that I still have every reason to hate Duke.

If you’re the Hoyas, this might have been one of those situations where you just shut up and play basketball. Yeah, so the people in the stands might look a bit smaller than usual, but that doesn’t mean you can take on a billion of them.

During an exhibition match in Bejing, the Georgetown Hoyas got into a huge brawl with the Bayi Rockets, and as you can tell, things escalated rather quickly.

I am surprised that the Hoyas were able to walk away from this unscathed, but I do question why chairs were necessary when you have that type of man advantage.

I assumed that last part would be obvious, until I found out there is currently a no-charge zone in college basketball. A mythical 2-foot no-charge zone .

I watched something like 100+ college games this year, pre-tourney, and never once saw this rule used. Obviously because referees are blind. Or maybe it’s just f**king impossible to judge a 2 foot hemisphere from the middle of a point 4.5 feet above your head while sprinting. The current zone is not painted on the floor.

Regardless, this can only be good for the game. It should help to eliminate the flopping that has somehow become a legitimate defensive philosophy. A thorough 2.5 -3 minute search didn’t yield me any stats, but as any sighted fan knows, Duke has raised charge-taking to an almost religious level.

Nothing starts a crowd-boner among the Crazies like a good charge . They have a long line of floppers, from Wojo and Battier, to Greg Paulus, to Zoubek, yada yada yada. (That Paulus vid might be the best/worst flop ever). Go ahead and Google “Duke flops”- you’ll get 2.2 million results, every one of them glorious examples of why people hate them.

They have co-opted the offensive foul into playing basketball “the Duke way”, and it has become so ingrained in their value system that I can’t help but see them being significantly affected by this rule change. They will be forced to change, though. If not, Coach K is about to see the already significant talent gap he suffers against rival Carolina become even wider.

Charges, when implemented as part of game plan, can be an incredible equalizer against a more talented opponent. But it’s a cheap parlor trick; it hides what is in plain sight. This will force teams to be more clever with their schemes, and maybe it will finally expose those preppy chumps for the overachievers they really are.

And much like the first time I heard about this, it still made me wonder how the hell they planned on making this work?

Well an artist has come out with some renderings showing just how this might all go down.

University of Connecticut star Kemba Walker has excelled as a basketball player at all levels throughout his entire life. Watching him play, it is clear that he has spent an inordinate amount of time practicing his trade.

And after what he revealed in a recent Sports Illustrated interview, it’s a good thing his trade isn’t teaching.

Walker admitted in the story that, at the tender age of 20, he just completed reading his first book. Not Goodnight Moon as a child, or Charlotte’s Web in grade school, but Forty Million Dollar Slaves: The Rise, Fall, and Redemption of the Black Athlete.

Hey, at least he wasn’t f**king around when he finally got around to this “reading” thing.

‘So what, he hadn’t read a book until he was 20?’ you say. I agree. Normally it wouldn’t be a big deal. It would be incredible, but believable. I graduated high school with at least one person that I am certain is illiterate.

But Mr. Walker completed three years at a school currently ranked in the top 200 in the WORLD and top 100 nationally. HAVING NEVER READ A FUCKING BOOK.

How did the pass tests? I know he is majoring in nose-picking Sociology, but what happened to English Lit requirements?

Now I feel like the biggest dope in the world for reading all of those silly “classics” when I was a freshman.

His academic advisor, Felicia Crump, is quoted as telling Walker that “if you can do this, you will leave behind a legacy that’s more important than anything you do on the basketball court.”

Goddamn right you are about that legacy. Walker not only is a helluva baller, he might be the best con artist this side of Drew Rosenhaus. To quote a brilliant man- “He could sell a ketchup Popsicle to a woman in white gloves.”

On the bright side, maybe a new term will we’ll have a new term to throw about – a UConn job: when a school grants an athlete a degree just for being successful, despite all evidence that he is a high-functioning dumbass.

Not that I want him to go away, but like any successful white college basketball player, you just kind of assume he will get drafted by Utah or Indiana and you will probably never hear from him again.

But in the case of Jimmer Fredette, not only will you not be able to forget about him, but you have the chance to be able to stare into his beautiful eyes for the rest of eternity.

For only $14.95, you can get a poster of Fredette looking as cool as ever. At least for me, I know that if I wanted to look cool, dressing in a tuxedo with my basketball shoes on just screams bad-ass. I think the only way he could look any more awesome is if he had on some skinny jeans with a camo shirt.

So if for some reason you want this poster, or if you just want your kids to practice abstinence, you can get your JIMMER poster here.

It was painful to watch. It was like watching girls high school basketball, where no one ever makes a shot. A complete waste of time.

I mean, 41 points? Embarassing. They shot a record-worst 18.8 percent. That’s the worst in an NCAA title game since 1941 when Washington St. shot a lowly 21.5% against Wisconsin.

That’s epic #losing.

As Reddit contributor predhed7 points out, on Tuesday the Nashville Predators beat the Atlanta Thrashers 6-3.

The significance? Nashville shot 6-for-24, or 25%. A goddamn hockey team had a better shooting percentage than Butler did.

Like I said, I normally don’t like piling on people when they’re down, but when you suck that bad in the sport’s biggest spotlight, you got it comin’.

Once in a while, you get it right. Amongst all the porno and awful vlogs, you found the time in your cold, dead heart to do something worthwhile. The right thing even.

About 3 weeks ago, Illinois College guard Jacob Tucker released a video of himself doing incredible dunks. Tucker’s goal was to drum up enough public support to get selected for the NCAA Dunk Contest.

Well, the Internet has spoken, and it loves 5” 11’ white dudes with hops like Melvin Levett.

Tucker won a Facebook voting contest to become the final participant in last night’s dunk contest, and he did not disappoint.

He ended up winning the event all while attempting dunks that weren’t even on his video. In round two, he tried doing a cartwheel dunk, which would have been damn impressive, but he couldn’t quite get it down. He did also attempt the between-the-legs 360 in the final round, but after two failed attempts, he had to settle for jumping over some guy that was holding the ball, which he then turned into a reverse dunk. Not too shabby.

Even Sydney Deane would have been impressed.

Butler versus Virginia Commonwealth? Yawn.

People love the NCAA tournament because of bracket challenges, Gus Johnson’s on-airgasms, and early round upsets. Don’t get me wrong… I love watching a 13 seed knock off a 4 as much as anyone, but that’s where I draw the line. Watching Butler and VCU play in the final four? Give me a freaking break.

It’s time to revoke the one and done rule. It’s ruining college basketball.

Think I’m wrong?

In 1979, Michigan State and Indiana State met in the NCAA Championship. Junior Larry Bird faced off with Magic Johnson. What ensued was the most memorable basketball rivalry of a generation.

In 1985, Senior Patrick Ewing dominated the NCAA tournament until he ran into Villanova in the championship game.

In 1992, Senior’s Christian Laettner and Grant Hill led Duke against Junior Jamal Mashburn and Kentucky in arguably the greatest tournament game of all time.

Fast forward to today.

In the closing seconds of Ohio State’s loss to Kentucky, William Buford chucked up a horrendous ill-advised three pointer. Forget the fact that Thad Motta should have most certainly called a time out… the fate of the best team in the tournament rested on the shoulders of William freaking Buford? Where’s Evan Turner when you need him? (Jp14: I was personally wishing for Ron Lewis.)

In overtime, Florida’s Irving Walker chucked up a vomit-worthy last second three point shot, which clanked off the rim giving Butler it’s second trip to the Final Four in as many years. Walker ended the game 1-10 shooting. That’s the guy Billy Donovan turned to. That was his best option.

Speaking of Butler, Andy Samberg Matt Howard went for 16 points and 8 boards in their upset of #1 seeded Pittsburgh. DeJuan Blair would be a senior had he stayed in school… think the big fella would have had anything to say about that?

The point is that with all of these stars leaving college for the NBA, the tournament is getting watered down. It’s a shell of it’s former self. Butler and VCU are not draws. They aren’t exciting.

In baseball, I don’t go out of my way to watch the Nationals play the Padres. I don’t care. There’s not enough star power.

The same goes for March Madness.

I watched the Fab Five for C-Webb and Jalen. Not Dugan Fife.

The laundry list of NBA phenoms that could potentially be playing in this season’s March Madness is jaw-dropping. Potential MVP Derrick Rose could be leading Memphis.

Double-Double Machine Kevin Love could be putting on the powder blue UCLA jersey. Slam dunk champion Blake Griffin could have the folks in Norman screaming Boomer Sooner all the way to Houston.

Instead, we are stuck with garbage. Trash.

It’s time the NCAA step in and make the kids stay in school longer. Not to get an education… but to protect us from a Final Four like this.

Not even Gus Johnson can save us from Butler versus VCU.

Well… maybe he can. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DdXeWvucvH8)

5.9 Million brackets were submitted to ESPN.com’s 2011 NCAA Tournament Challenge.

Two of them picked this Final Four.

A user named jspearlman has a #1 ranked bracket, having chosen the unlikeliest Final Four in the history of bracketology.

His bracket is not without mistakes. His major gaffes were picking Louisville to go the Elite Eight, picking Memphis to beat Arizona, and picking Xavier to beat Marquette.

Other than that he is pretty much spot on. As of the time of this writing, his ESPN comment board is getting blown up with comments like:

“Give me some lottery numbers to play cause these picks r amazing!!!!”

“Jesus Christ you pulled that bracket right out your arse! Congrats”

“Meet me at the sports book at the Bellagio next friday, hookers, drugs, whatever you want, just tell me who is going to win and by how much, oh yeah the first and second half over and unders would be nice too”

He has picked VCU to win it all, so his bracket still has a long way to go. But if VCU has proven anything to this point, it’s that they can hang with anybody. Even perennial powerhouse Butler.

Check out jspearlman’s bracket below:

Richmond was hogging up the entire tunnel between the locker rooms and the court and Kansas took apparently took offense.

Fortunately we have an amateur cameraman filming the entire thing. You can see Richmond is very excited, the little guy getting pumped for its battle with the giant.

They may have been a bit douchy by hogging up the hallway, but hasn’t anyone taught Kansas how to say “excuse me”?

All in all nothing happened. A few meaningless elbows were thrown and Kansas made its point:

“We’re not here to have fun. We’re here to beat the living s**t out of you.”

And they did.

Even though he lost on Thursday, Jimmer Fredette is still probably the most beloved basketball player in the NCAA. People just can’t get enough of him.

The media loves his story, and how he got to where he is now.

Truly NBA scouts have to like this kid right? He can shoot lights out. He has intangibles such as his explosive, dynamite offensive prowess that has made him “Legendary” in the College world. He is a lovable guy — he’s college basketball’s version of Tim Tebow, minus the championships.

A kid with his talent who finishes their degree is very rare these days. Maybe Adrian Peterson should have stayed longer in school — he might know the definition of slavery.

Of course though, almost forgot Jimmer’s defense is completely non-existent. A 6-year-old could crawl past Jimmer and score. You get the idea.

This is where the love for Jimmer stops.

Jimmer’s seems to just not care about defense. Even Crybaby Bosh knows a thing or two about defense.

A personal NBA director stated, “I think he’s almost invisible defensively.”

“I watched Jackson Emery out there and he’s guarding like one and a half guys. I don’t think I’ve ever seen Fredette bend his knees at the defensive end.”

Ouch. I guess Jimmer shouldn’t even bother running to the defensive end of the court. This kid maybe the best pure scorer, but he is a huge liability on the defensive end.

His scouting report so far goes like this: “He has limited athleticism. He’s not the greatest ball handler, He’s just an OK passer, and he doesn’t play defense at all.”

In other words he is just another player who can shoot, literally that’s all he can do. Maybe he knows how to rap? He could kick rhymes with Ron Artest if all else fails.

Some NBA team will take a chance on him. Probably Utah. Why not?

For all the love and hype Jimmer has gotten this season, it finally feels like its time to bring it down a notch.

Everybody knows he’s just this year’s J.J. Redick, anyway.

So far so good. We have had our share of upsets, and we have seen some buzzer beaters. For all of you March Madness junkies, what’s gone on so far should be enough to get your fix. Most of us had Ohio State and Kansas getting pretty deep in the tourney, but I’m guessing there are some other games you didn’t quite have pointed out.

We’re already in the Sweet 16, and here are some of the top surprises so far.

3 ACC teams in the Sweet 16- North Carolina and Duke aren’t that big of a surprise to be joining the Sweet 16, but as a #10 seed, the FSU Seminoles probably weren’t on most people’s bracket – but their defense has proven they can probably slow down just about anybody. The ACC has 3 teams in the Sweet 16, which is just one less than the Big East and Big Ten combined.

UConn and Marquette only remaining Big East teams- All year, I have had to hear how amazing the Big East is. About how it is the deepest conference in the history of college basketball. Getting 11 teams in the tournament almost proved that point – until all of them but two are gone in the first weekend. Kimba Walker is playing like a player of the year candidate should, and Marquette was just lucky enough to meet another overrated Big East team. I wouldn’t be surprised if UConn somehow pulled a Final Four appearance out of their ass, but the Big East is proving they were just a group of mediocre teams.

BYU/Jimmer Ferdette actually for real – I knew Jimmer Ferdettewas a damn good scorer, but I wasn’t quite sure BYU was good enough to make it past two rounds worth of tough tournament games. I understand they have played two non-power league schools so far in Wofford and Gonzaga, but anyone that watched the BYU/Gonzaga game had to see that Jimmer is pretty much a badass. I don’t think they will have enough to get past Florida, but I didn’t think BYU would get past St. Johns so what the hell do I know?

Shouldn’t be surprised: Butler and their coach Brad Stevens at it again – I had Butler losing to Old Dominion in the first round, but that will be the last time I overlook Brad Stevens and the Butler Bulldogs. They may have lost Gordon Hayward, but they still have the best young coach in the game, and they have the experience of the all-mighty Horizon league. Wisconsin is the perfect kind of team for the Bulldogs to take advantage of, so who knows, we might get to enjoy a BYU vs. Butler Elite Eight match-up. Wake me when it’s over.

5 Non-Power Conference teams in Sweet 16 – BYU, San Diego State, Richmond, VCU and Butler are all proving why this is the greatest tournament in all of sports. Even though BYU and San Diego State technically should still be here, seeing teams like Richmond and VCU sneak in this far proves that it is f**king impossible to pick a perfect bracket.

Kansas has 3 double digit seeds in their region – If you told Kansas they would have to get through Richmond and the winner of Florida State and VCU in order to get to the Final Four, I’m guessing they would have gotten so excited they would have pissed themselveslike my dog does when she sees someone new. Although, it isn’t as if Kansas has never had trouble with lower seeded teams. This could end up being a bad thing.

How dominate Ohio State has looked – For most of the year, people have talked as if there hasn’t been any dominate teams. We thought Duke might have been until Irving got hurt at the beginning of the year, but other than that, no one really stood out. But if anyone has watched the way the Buckeyes have played over the past few weeks, including the tournament, it’s easy to say they are officially the team to beat in the Sweet 16. Their next match-up against Kentucky should be the best game of the tournament so far.

Shouldn’t be surprised: I am currently in 3,030,885th place on ESPN’s Tournament Challenge – I am never good at picking these f**king brackets. Usually I do 5 or 6 brackets just so I can say that I picked a certain game in one of my brackets. It makes me feel better about myself. But this year, I decided to only do one bracket, so I shouldn’t be surprised that there are over 3 million people that are doing better than me. Oh well, at least I wasn’t stupid enough to pick Louisville to go to the finals.

VCU was a bubble team – If any team that isn’t named Ohio State deserves to be mentioned as the most impressive team in the tournament so far, it would have to be VCU. They have demolished all three teams they have played so far, including USC in the first round game, then Georgetown, and most recently Purdue – all three from big time conferences. Most people were pissed that VCU even made the tournament. Can we finally say that maybe these guys on the selection committee actually know what they are talking about?

Shouldn’t be Surprised: Pitt chokes again – The Big East might be a bit overrated, but if you had Pitt going to the Final Four, you should probably just smack yourself for being retarded. Pitt always chokes in the tournament, and just because they were a #1 seed, doesn’t mean it is going to change anything. Now, I sure as hell didn’t think they would go down this early, but Jaime Dixon really needs to figure out what the hell he is doing wrong.
