Over the weekend, while the Nationals were playing a series in Milwaukee against the Brewers, Adam Dunn decided to go up to the radio booth and see his apparent friend, Bob Uecker. Even though it was in the bottom half of the 2nd inning, in a game that Dunn was not starting, nothing could stop Dunn from seeing his buddy one last time before in his words, “make sure you don’t go dying on me.”
And while some people might look at this as a sincere moment for a professional athlete that just wanted to see his friend, I look at it as someone who has never, and continues to not give a s**t about his team.
Adam Dunn has always been a lazy, good for only hitting meaningless homeruns, asshole who has always been a cancer in the locker room. His lackadaisical attitude, and horrible defense has been over-shadowed by the fact that he can hit homeruns, but there’s a reason one of the top power hitters in the game can only get signed by the Nationals. No one wants him in their dugout – and with good reason.
Dunn, while in Cincinnati, made everyone on the team lazier. He always acted as if baseball was just something that he lucked into, rather than a game that he has always loved. That kind of attitude makes the rest of the team feel as if they don’t have to try as hard, especially when there are young players like Jay Bruce, and Joey Votto looking up to him. The Reds knew this kind of attitude would never turn into a winner, so they got rid of him.
The Nationals are now in a similar situation, probably looking to trade their best hitter. And once again – with good reason.
Dunn did not even tell his manager that he was going to visit Uecker up in the booth DURING the game. And even though he wasn’t starting, he still has to have the respect of his manager to at least tell the guy.
“I could [not] care less if I get in trouble for going up and seeing my guy after he had heart surgery,” Dunn said. “I’ll pay my fine.”
Maybe I am overreacting a bit. I admittedly do not like Adam Dunn and his could give a f**k less attitude. But he really couldn’t find a better time then during a game to go up and see his good pal? Not before the game? Or after?
Adam Dunn will probably find himself in a White Sox or Tigers uniform before the trade deadline expires, and if that is the case, I expect whichever team he goes to to not make the playoffs. He is not a winner, he has never been a winner, and he will never be a winner. And while I am extremely happy that the great Bob Uecker is healthy and back in the booth, this once again proves that Adam Dunn could really give a damn about his teammates – and the teams that are looking to trade for him better be aware of what they are getting.

if you google cancer, adam dunn’s face will appear
Dunn is large and oddly shaped. I really don’t know why you’d want a stegosaurus to play on your baseball team. You’d go through uniforms like way too fast.
