Boise State Could Win The National Championship This Year, Are We Ready For It?

Boise State Could Win The National Championship This Year, Are We Ready For It?It has been three seasons in the making.

The Boise State Broncos have finally put themselves in position to make their first ever, national championship appearance. The first AP rankings came out this week for the beginning of the 2010-11 season with the Broncos sitting at number three, behind Ohio State and Alabama.

Everything that I have heard so far has been nothing but disbelief that they are ranked third in the nation and in front of teams like Florida and Texas.

Open your damn eyes people, why can’t anyone see this team is the real deal?

Besides their season of 10-3 in 2007, Boise has lost one game since 2006. ONE! What more does a team need to do to get to the Championship?

Granted, in the regular season they have played few ranked teams, but credit has to be given where credit is due when a team can consistently dominate their conference like Boise has.

The BCS selection committee could have solved some of this constant controversy last season when Boise and TCU went undefeated, by putting them in bowl games against a team from one of the power conferences. Instead, they s**t the bed and decided to place the two teams in the Fiesta Bowl and let them battle it out for who is the best non-deserving team. Had the two teams gone into those games and won they could have finally gained some respect from the nation.

Had they lost? Argument over.

Boise State will get their chance on September 6th to show they are for real when they play in Maryland against 10th ranked Virginia Tech, who has lost their last two season openers. Not to put the pressure on or anything but their entire season is on the line the first game of the season.

The Broncos are returning 22 of their starters from a team that had the nation’s highest scoring offense last season. If they can get past Virginia Tech on opening night they will be scoreboard watching the entire season in hopes that OSU or Alabama will slip up and lose a game. Alabama has a wicked hard schedule along with the SEC championship game, while OSU has to put their hopes on the shoulders of Terelle Pryor.

Of course should one of those two teams lose the real controversy will begin.

If Florida or Texas continues to win, will the voters place them ahead of Boise? I for one would love to finally see what Boise could do in the big game. They have the offense to keep up with any team, and we cannot forget what this team did in 2006 in the Fiesta Bowl when they were huge underdogs.

I’m sure no one wanted to see Butler in the basketball National Championship game, and look how that turned out. So brace yourself, this is going to be the year of the little guys.

If you look at the poll below, obtained from ESPN.com, more people (overwhelmingly)would prefer Boise State to win the national championship than any of the other top 5 teams.

Call me a cynic, but until Boise State subscribes to the prevailing operation of corrupt alumni and crooked recruiting practices, they will always be at a disadvantage. Does anyone REALLY believe a top recruit chooses a college based on atmosphere and curicullum? I stand corrected. As long as that atmosphere includes a Cadillac Escalade and the curicullum is Current Movies 101. But in the meantime, GO OHIO STATE!!!!!!

I have never been less ready for a team like Boise to win the national championship. if Boise wins the NC, it will prove the BCS right in thinking this is the best way to determine a champion. We need a playoff, and Boise winning the NC will screw that completely.
