Brian Cushing, LB for the Houston Texans, has been busted for performance enhancing drugs.

He will get a four-game suspension and possibly his Rookie of the Year Award stripped from his strong steroid enhanced grip.

This story has barely hit the ticker at the bottom of ESPN. Does anyone think that’s weird at all?

A 19-year-old, no-name 2nd baseman, just called up from the minors gets busted for taking cough medicine and there are congressional hearings called. A star NFL player gets busted for taking steroids and it’s barely even mentioned.

I’m not one to throw stones because, personally, I could care less who is using steroids and who is eating their Wheaties.

I personally think the crimes against women, drunk driving and murder are a bit worse than taking PEDs to get bigger, stronger and come back from injury quicker.

I think that using HGH to recover from injury is better for all professional leagues. It allows your stars to get on the field quicker after injury and you sell more tickets, but that’s just me.

Baseball seems to be a little more up in arms about the PED issue because baseball is a stats driven league.

When people speak about baseball they tend to point at the long standing traditions of the game, unwritten rules, and stats. In every other professional sport the only thing that matters is winning.

People will blast Dan Marino for not winning a championship and say that it was his fault even though there are 10 other Dolphins on offense that were supposed to help him, but someone like Cal Ripken or Ken Griffey Jr. are considered great “Hall Of Fame” players but championships never get mentioned, only stats.

Sports writers, on air personalities and bloggers need to either crucify all of the players that have tested positive for PEDs or leave them all alone.

Sports writers especially need to get up to speed on these issues. No more “I’m not voting for anyone in the steroid era for the Hall of Fame,” or “I’ll vote for him because I THINK he didn’t take PEDs but not him, he’s a bad man.”

I say leave baseball players alone…by the way, it’s not the national past time any more. Stop acting like it still is.

You’re in a playoff with your college buddy and you’ve already qualified and made it to the NAIA national tournament.

You think to yourself: “If he wins this hole he gets to go to nationals and I’ve already qualified.”

What do you do? You kick his ass on that playoff hole and move on with your life.

After I heard this story I nearly fell out of my chair. In what other sport have you ever seen this? There is no excuse for this kind of blatant disregard for the competitive nature of any sport.

Grant Whybark hit his shot, roughly, 40 yards out of bounds off the tee so his friend and senior at the University of St. Francis, Seth Doran could win the playoff hole and make it to the nationals.

At first I thought to myself, “Wow, what a guy” and then I thought, “If I were Doran and my buddy told the press that he intentionally threw the match so that I could make it to nationals I would kick his ass.”

I have two major problems with this whole story: 1) NEVER throw a match, game, play, point. 2) If you ignore rule one, then at least make it look good and miss a putt and then afterwards keep your filthy mouth shut.

If I were the golf coach or a member of the nationals committee, if there is such a thing, I would throw Whybark out of nationals completely.

He has not only ruined the integrity of the game, but you have, in doing so, made himself look like a complete jackass.

Oh yeah, you also made Seth Doran look like a fool in public. Way to go buddy!

I have been watching March Madness, MLB spring ball, NFL combine reruns – and loving most of it.

Many people have told me they don’t want to see the “Cinderella” teams winning in the tournament, Brett Favre retiring…or not, or any more athletes getting arrested for being dumb on a Friday night/Saturday morning. I tend to agree, but it could be worse. We could have Cheese Rolling be a highly attended and televised sport.

The video below piqued my interest so much I looked it up and according to Wikipedia (if it’s on Wikipedia you know it’s true), The Cooper’s Hill Cheese-Rolling and Wake is an annual event held at Cooper’s Hill, near Gloucester in the Cotswold region of England.

It was originally intended for people from the local village but now people from all over the world show up to bust their ass on this hill while chasing after a cheese wheel and getting tackled by rugby players at the bottom for good measure…Sounds like a f**kin’ blast to me!

So the next time you turn on the TV or listen to sports radio and you hear that another athlete was arrested for defecating on a stripper because he was ________, and you can’t press charges against the great ___________, just think we could have Cheese Rolling League on CBS and ESPN for five months a year, with off season coverage on the CRL Network.

For those of you looking to attend this event, the 2010 event has been cancelled due to safety concerns over the number of people visiting. Good luck in 2011!

I don’t normally bash on social media sites like Facebook or Twitter, but c’mon people! I sat and watched every game on Thursday and Friday with my brackets next to me crossing out every wrong pick.

My phone kept buzzing and because I just can’t ignore it, I pick it up only to see another moron posted on Facebook that they picked every upset.

I DON’T CARE that you picked Murray State, or Ohio University in the first round! These people are killing me. Especially during the NCAA Tournament, I can’t even log on to Facebook because of this s**t.

It’s bad enough that people post or tweet that they had a bagel for breakfast and then are going to go for their 10 mile run at 6am. Now I have to read that the secretary that would rather play “Farmville” than interact with people in person picked Murray State to beat Vandy. WHY?!

Almost every game in this tournament has gone down to the wire and there have been more overtime games and buzzer beaters than I can remember in the recent past.

You would think that I would be excited about this as a sports fan, but I can’t because my phone will buzz once again in about ten minutes with some other moron posting or tweeting that they called even more upsets that happen through the rest of the tournament.

I hope that every favorite wins out so these people can go back to eating their bagels, running their 10 miles, and stop ruining my day.

I hope all of your Farmville animals get the plague, your mafia gets ambushed and your aquarium leaks.

The Cleveland Browns have found their savior in Jake Delhomme and were willing to deal Brady Quinn to the Broncos for fullback Peyton Hillis, a 2011 6th Round draft pick and a conditional pick in 2012.

The Browns moves thus far have been better than any they have made last year but they are now the Seattle Seahawks of the AFC. Two bad quarterbacks, a sub-par running game, an awful defense and an expected total of 6 wins in the 2010 season. At least they’re not rummaging through the Jets’ trash this year. Not yet, anyway.

Cleveland also traded their No. 1 2006 pick, linebacker Kamerion Wimbley to Oakland for undisclosed draft considerations.

I want to know what some of these teams are thinking in the offseason. Bad moves, overpaying for free agents and claiming that aging vets will be the answer. There is something to be said about smart free agent moves, bringing in role players and then preparing for the draft to find some of the young guys that you can plug right in.

The Broncos are showing how you can ruin an organization with a few bad moves. The past two off-seasons have been terrible.

Since they already have one bad quarterback they figured they could add another one to the roster and do their best impersonation of the Cleveland Browns.

They don’t have any good WRs taller than 5’8” and Josh McDaniels has the interpersonal skills of Peter Griffin. The Broncos are in big trouble in 2010. It might be good for the organization and the fans if there is a lock out in 2011.

Hopefully Brady Quinn will be able to turn it around and become the quarterback that the Broncos need him to be. I don’t see it happening but from the Broncos fans online they seem to think that McDaniels can make Quinn the quarterback they need.

Hope you guys like your quarterback checking down to the running back and the 5 yard “in” to the TE. No vertical passing here!

Continue with your arrogant ways and no more bowl games for you!

Countless people still believe that Notre Dame can survive in college football without attaching itself to a conference. Years ago, Notre Dame would win and bring in the best recruits in the country. NOT ANYMORE!

I really don’t remember the last time Notre Dame was relevant in college football. They haven’t brought in a head coach that has made a difference, either.

I know that all universities experience some ebb and flow, but this feels much different.

Notice a gap in employment?

The pompous, arrogant douchebags at Notre Dame don’t want to rub elbows with the common folk of the Big Ten or Big East when it comes to football and have snubbed them many times over the years.

I think it’s time for the rest of the country to snub Notre Dame and block them from ever entering a conference.

All the conferences should band together and tell Notre Dame to keep their Golden Dome, Touchdown Jesus, “rich history” and see if they can keep up with the money and exposure of the Super-Conferences that have already started to take shape.

Notre Dame players, alumni, fans and students remind me of the over the top, Halloween mask wearing, booger eating idiots on the west coast. I believe they call themselves Raider Nation — another organization that is arrogant, infallible, paranoid and still reminisce over the championship trophies won over 20 years ago.

It’s a what have you done for me lately world! Every fan should hold their team to a higher standard. Until the Golden Dome fans and alumni do just that, the rest of the country should give them a collective Golden Shower.
